yeah, all the live drum type tracks should have been put together as one album, and the autotune stuff kept seperate. if you compile some of the tracks from planet earth with lotusflower and rejig the order you get a great tracklisting

his best album of the decade for me....its not brilliant but its very good....love the first 3 tracks and ...apart from one or two tracks that i wouldnt have put on it...its solid.....pity about mplsound....pretty weak overall i thought...as i said here before...lotusflower single disc would be around ten in my best prince albums...

Loved it on the first spin, love it even more now. So much so that I got it as a download, on CD - and on vinyl. nod

Me 2. I really like the album overall. To me, it's his best project since TRC.

totally agree...

if he scrapped the slow stuff and jazzy stuff on it.. it would be perfect for me.

throw in a rock version of 'no more candy 4 u' and it would be even better.

Lotus is a jewel in Prince's crown.

What makes 2009 another defining moment musically for Prince, is the fact that this album, which made us say what we are "How can he go from track X to track X" etc is one of the three that it came out as.

Say what you want about the others, but look at how different each disc is! Now i can ask, "how can one go from Dreamer to Here or Love Like Jazz to Ol Skool" and that was with just two of the three...Then Elixer comes into play and shows off other things, his production skills and a more RnB Jazz mix affair....So now it's "how can one go from $ to No More Candy to Something You Already Know??"

Completely agreed.

All the folks who think he's somehow "lost it" need to give this classic set another spin.

Listened to it the other day. It really isn't as bad of the general consensus says it is. To be honest, I loved it until I read everyone's opinion of it. Now I like it again.

time flies.

Its good but seeing how Colonized Mind was a rip off of another song reduced my liking of the project. I sure didn't like the lyrics so take away the melody and structure and I was left with nothing for what seemed like the strongest track at the time.

I don't have the thread to hand, someone else will have to link to it. Was a youtube video, it was as blatant as feel, vibe and some lyrical constructs.

Was it a Chris Rea song? I seem to recall someone mentioning it was similar to one of his songs.

Like most of Prince albums it didn't get the attention, radio airplay or exposure it deserved."Dreamer" definitely should have won a Grammy. Out of all his projects i'm dumbfounded on why Prince pulled the plug on Lotuflow3r. It had so much potential, It was and is

a masterpiece

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

'Lotusflow3r' is a fantastic album... the songs, the flow, the instruments, the recording, the voice. Stands next 2 any Prince album, easily.

I sat down, and listened 2 'Lotusflow3r' like I used 2 listen 2 Prince's albums... loud, through a real stereo system, from beginning 2 end.

The music is fresh, the recording and engineering R perfect, including the vocals and all other instruments. Clear, punchy mix. Writing is there, diversity... energy, drive, the guitars R stripped of some of more glossy effects of the past, and R out in front in the mix. The sequencing of songs creates a seamless flow, though the songs themselves contrast greatly.

'Lotusflow3r' is everything an album should be and more. It is cohesive, and provides a musical journey from beginning to end.

"He's a musician's musician..."
