Play that MF'ing bass Prince's post 80's work sometimes gets a bad rap around here (no pun intended) but I agree that there's at least one thing missing since then - killer bass lines! I just heard for the first time, an alternate version of "Something in the Water" and the bass line that came in during the middle of the song was just so slick and funky! Not to mention, the bass in the extended version of "Little Red Corvette" and of course "777-9311"; they're all-time favorites of mine.
I want to put together a few songs with bass lines like those. Any suggestions? Btw, it soesn't really matter to me if it's from the 80's or not. | |

I haven't listened to it for a while because my audio equipment needs a fix, but basically it's a longer extended version of the track including a wild bass-solo. | |

it's interesting though how the UK-department of Warner Brothers were able to press the master of that extended mix from "Sexy Dancer". As far as i know, that mix was never released on a US single. Hopefully it might be included for the remaster of his 1979 album. | |
