Now that the year is coming to an end i was wondering what your favourite bootlegs of 2010 have been.

There has been a few very good releases this year.

Great to hear these tracks in this quality, i still listen to this on a regular basis.

The Bird Rehearsal

Again, a real pleasure to hear this in great sound quality. Nice to hear Electric Intercourse too. Great artwork tops off this release nicely.

A more recent release of Prince's 27th birthday party, and a great improvement over the original release. Anything from this era is ok with me. Great art again too, another top release.

Man, Box O Chocolates is one of the greatest boots ever. Ever. All of those wonderful songs in excellent quality after so many years with the multi-gen versions. What a treat for fans of the glory years.

I was like a slightly fatter Golam as I whispered "precious" while rubbing my freshly burned CD-R of Box O Chocolates.

More of this kind of thing would be most welcome.

My favorite boot released this year has go to to be The Bird. Hands down, the most interesting thing goin' right now. Close second would be the remastered 1999 shows from Sab's City Lights reissue.

Haha, thanks Spinlight. Don't believe everything you read on this site. I wanted to use my new(ish) name, that's all.

The Bird rehearsal really is great, and the quality is top notch too. I think i would prefer releases like this and BOC over live material. At least for now.

True that new The Bird Rehearsal is an absolute must-have. I dig rehearsals and this release is top-notch. Besides the Small Club boot, it's rehearsals like this that are on the top of my dream/wish list for videos to surface. I like the fly-on-the-wall nature of band jams, but watching it would be killer.

I agree about rehearsal recordings, i'm a sucker for them big time. I find them very interesting and often quite amusing, the same reasons that i like soundchecks.

Speaking of soundchecks.......Nice 1990 was a good release, having that in similar quality to that of The Bird rehearsal would be great.

I just love that little glimpse into the creative process.

Box of Chocolates for the win, especially when I add the extended version of Can I Play With U? to the mix. For some reason I also added the extended version of Heaven from the Charade remaster because it seems to fit.

27 is great, especially for that version of A Love Bizarre.

The extended Can I Play With U? was a great little gift.

Since I'm a sucker for studio material "Box "O" Chocolates" gets my vote!

Box O Chocolates. For me it was proof that modern remasters of original "vault" tracks could still make for an interesting and appealing CD release.

BOC was great, but i had trouble with the Bird Rehearsal due to some unknown technical issues I'm kinda dying to hear it

For sure, and without hesitation it is "Purple Morning" - Eye's new release of New Morning. Amazing soundquality and a beautiful package with a little 20 pages book.

Box Of Chocolates

Nice set, even if some of the tracks are so close to what was released I am not sure if they really warrant another release.

But over all very nice. Now it may be my old ears or cheap car stereo but some of it seems a bit flat, or rather not all that dynamic. (my other albums even some that were once MP3s and now WAVs again sound better, fuller, louder).

Anyway: the stand out is "Data Bank" I have heard it was originally supposed to be for Morris, but, I do not think so. It seems to recorded for Prince. And that Prince envisioned it as a single (with this being an extended version). That it was later, once the TIME reunited, that it was dug up and reworked for the Time. Now I have heard a few of the edits and even a version similar to this but not this clear. And it is funny but I never picked up on the "Susan (Rodgers)" call out to 'fade it out." (I used to think it was talking about Wendy's sister Susanna)

Another long time favorite was Movie Star. (one of those why another release). But it is cool to hear the unfinished ending with out the lead in to "place in heaven."

Which brings me to what really inspired me to post: 'Place in Heaven.' I have heard it many times but it never hit me until today. Is this song about the loss of a child? I always liked it, and I knew the woman he was singing to was sad, but for some reason (call me slow if this is a dead horse) but I think she suffered the loss of a 3 year old child.

Anyway: other notables "All day All night" cool song in great quality, and the "can't stop.." and "we can funk" always good stuff.

I downloaded all the 20Ten shows, but despite some of them being good, i don't think they will be recordings that i will listen to very often.

Of course, i am very grateful for the people who recorded the shows and put them out.

Of course, likewise. Whether or not I enjoy any said recordings, it's still amazing what these guys do for the fan community.
