I'm still baffled as to why this track was offered to Miles, it was never anything special, and there isn't any room anywhere for Miles to do anything other than the odd out of place squeal.
Still killer that new stuff is getting out there though. I haven't heard this in YEARS and I admit it sounds a lot better than I remember - A Miles-less version would be cool too (if you know what I mean).

Ive always had a problem with the song. Im not sure if its the pitch or speed of the vocals It just sound off a bit
I remember back in the days the pitch / speed made it sound like a Camile track, and or some odd reason i liked it that way
This not one of the best outtake out, But still

Holy shitballs this is great. It's weird why these clean copies of these boots are suddenly appearing. maybe as the main man once said SOMETHING BIG IS COMING (or maybe not probably!) het we can keep hoping.

Sorry to be such a spoilsport, but, no, nothing big is coming. That outtake comes from a Miles Davis fan, so I don't think you can expect more. The track was originally meant to be released on the 6-CD version of "The Last Word" (2001-2), which became a 4-CD boxset (without "Can I Play With U?") and eventually was cancelled. The 4-CD version has been circulating for years. All you can maybe expect is the studio version of "Jailbait" recorded by Miles Davis, which was also on the original 6-CD version of "The Last Word" and doesn't involve Prince. Maybe. Maybe not.

^Correct. This was not freed by a Prince fan. Miles' fans have had this for quite a long time.

This "new" version is probably the original studio, unedited version, whereas the version that's been circulating for years is an edited version.
Prince and Miles might have jointly released this song, Prince being short and funky while Miles was long and jazzy. __________________________________________________

Funny. I was under the impression that it was exactly the opposite. The short version being the raw version that Miles sent back to Prince and the longer version being the more produced (extended) version that Prince made after receiving the "raw" version by Miles.

My Miles Davis collection is second largest to my Prince collection, then Beatles and Depeche mode.

Me too. When I hear it now the first thing I think is 'It's too slow!'. But this must be the original tempo/pitch as I've heard this version in other forms too. But my original bootlegs had a faster tempo/pitch.
Saying that... THIS IS AWESOME!! Love the additions!!

According to Marcus Miller, who worked on the Miles Davis album "Tutu", on which "Can I Play With U?" was supposed to appear:
The short version of "Can I Play With U?" doesn't have a bass solo and the long version has a bass solo in the extended portion (without Miles), so I guess the version that was intended for release on "Tutu" is the long version that has recently started to circulate.
