I really really like the part of the solo that starts and repeats over and over at 5 min into that video. Best PR performance I've seen in a while.

it was a stunning performance, when u know u are witnessing something very special.

i love that when he zones out & he did that 4 sure at milan.

i think the shirt did it to him.

Yeah, I love witnessing these special moments when he seems to forget totally about where he is and just gets lost in the music. So very moving to watch!!

The shirt must have done it, right! lol wink

Im not that much a techie but I first thought it was a camera crew who filmed that. Is that from a phone cam or what because whomever did an excellent job.

Its such a shame...its such a shame this show won't be on DVD... D V D D V D. why won't Prince put out a D V D

Logistics I assume from what the Peach n Blacks had to report.

I remember reading a statement Prince made about wanting to have one of the largest music catalogues at the record store (ala Miles davis but thats another post). I wish he would feel the same or do something likewise regarding his video/live performance output.

Sometimes as fans I think we get used to Prince's genius and kind of take him for granted....when I watched Purple Rain in Milan footage...it reminded me how great he is and why I'm such a fan of him and his work. It is quite moving watching him put his heart and soul into performing his signature tune. I'm so glad I'm a Prince fan.

The whole internet fanbase takes him for granted.

I saw it too. As close up to Prince as you'll ever get and it was subliminal.

I'm not that into PR (song) anymore, but that one gave me goosebumps.

I suppose it's true, Prince's PR is equivalent to MJ's Billy Jean.

Agreed that regardless of how I praise Controversy, PR is his signature song. At least he has one that will keep the money rolling in lol. Everyone wants there Angel or Stairway To Heaven. Aerosmith copied and came up with Dream On. The Eagles came up with theirs as Hotel California. Michael has Billy Jean (yes it's a magnum opus even under 4 min utes). And Prince has Purple Rain.

Really great version. Feels like he's re-connected to it again. Glad he's doing a full version again.

It's akin to the emotional pull of Stevie Ray Vaughn's version of Little Wing emotion-wise.

I love that recording!

the zoom job is too good 4 a phone. i saw a lot of camcorders, so i would guess this was taken with one of those

touched That's exactly how I feel.

In my case, I'm so happy I "found him again" and I'm very thankful he gave me that "awakening" by coming to Austria this year! Not having seen him live for 17 years (!!) kind of disconnected me from how amazing he is!!

Now I'm back 4 good, though, and the two concerts this year were only the beginning! Because after having experienced Prince in concert again I know that NOTHING COMPARES 2 HIM!!! And seeing him perform Purple Rain which such passion made that even clearer!

I also loved that moment ... perfect ending to a perfect performance!

Well, I think most of us at Milan were absolutely impressed. And I don't know if Europe inspires Prince or whatever else it is, but for me these concerts this year have been some of the best he has ever done! Prince is in great form, his energy and passion on stage are awesome, and it is great to see that he clearly loves to perform! I'm so happy to have had the chance to experience him twice this year and can only hope that he will continue like this for a very long time to come!

cosign although I havent seen him live too often ! lol lol

Ok - now I can see what all the fuss is about

At around 3:09 he takes it to a new level

Hats off to the Milan crowd for bringing the intensity!

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS PERFORMANCE!!!! Prince is AMAZING!!!!

I think this is by far one of the best performances of Purple Rain that I've seen. Prince's voice was so strong and full of emotion and he looked absolutely GORGEOUS!! Not to mention, that guitar solo gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes.

The facial expressions are priceless and I can't get enough of watching it. If ever I doubted Prince...watching this performance reminds me how much I love and adore him and why I'm so proud of being his fan. This performance goes on my must-see-everyday list!

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Just watched it.

I don't claim to have seen every video out there, but I have not seen him perform that song with that much emotion and genuineness in over 20 years. That was Prince. Thank you for pointing this video out.

Keep your headphones on.

LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE!!! MAKES ME SMILE AND CRY AT THE SAME TIME.

Love the intense guitar solo and how he afterwards puts the guitar gently down on the floor instead of throwing it at the audience.

Ive been to many where PR was played. Though I usually liked the performances, some have been genuine and some have been by the numbers and I usually have a "lets get this over with" vibe....this Milan one thats all over the place is one of those ones where you see him "feeling" it and putting in work and effort. He put his foot in the azz of this one this time, this night. Wow.

thumbs up!

I 've been lucky to witness these sublime performance live in Milan. And like the impression you got from the video I had the feeling something special was going on smile
