Prince's evolution on instruments he play

We all know Prince plays keyboards, drums, bass and guitar on professional level.

How much better you find Prince to be on those instruments then he was in the early days?

Guitar-I think Prince evolved very much on guitar from being a good guitar player to a guitar virtuoso

he have skill ,speed,perfect timing.

Over the years his licks become more precise and clean .

Bass-Prince showcased a big degree of improvment.

don't get me wrong he was always great on bass with his

ghost notes and slap pop style.

But his affiliation with Rhonda brought a new smoother ,more sophisticated bass style

(check Prtince's bass solo on Sensual Everafter and Everywhere)

Drums-Prince also improved on drums ,his early drum style

was simple and in the pocket, his latter

drum style is more in the style of John Blackwell

it's Prince on drums on Glasscutter.

Piano-While it's the first instrument Prince learned i think he has regressed on piano,

i think he

was better pianist in the 80's and i haven't seen him playing nothing impressive as he played

on Lovesexy Tour

Never noticed looking back on his old songs and music videos. I guess you had to live during that time to see improvement.

I think the piano on One Nite Alone was astonishing, but I am no music expert, so you might be right. He might have been more than astonishing.

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

it's important to know that on his Lovesexy tour, he was showing off big time. The mad piano solo parts were a part of the concept. And he always kept a secret or two for new surprises.
