I think it aligns with the music he is doing at the time-so Controversy matches Controversy. Musicology is more conservative and the clothes match that. Therefore I think it is difficult to differentiate. However if Prince had been somebody else without the history of the clothes etc then I do feel that albums like Musicology would have sold better. The image of Prince is sooo firmly fixed in peoples mind that I think it is his current sales that are affected-Past albums were a one stop shop

i like the new all in black look with the openshirt, it's far more rock n roll and in keeping with his whole music persona, than that silly promotional childish Tshirt of late, a nice return to the Prince of old... Welcome Back Prince now sing Head

i must admit prince appearence did NOTHING 4 me in the 80's..

didn't like his moustache & thought he was gayer than boy george plus he scared me half to death when he got up out of the bath tub in the doves video.. i thought he was gonna flash his percy.

couldn't even begin to enjoy the music..tragic!

of course appreciate that era now, i have regret & guilt at missed oppotunities..

but thank god things changed. cannot get enough of his turn out these days. i think he's sexier, more attractive than ever, cool vibe, worship the music & the kinky. he can operate exactly how he wishes & still have people at his feet
