The only time that song has ever sounded good to me is in the movie. The performance in the movie / album is the best ever, and actually it's the only ever decent performance. It has a certain spontanaeity that has never really been captured again. Prince himself could sing it all day and all night and never do it as good as the original. Sorry Prince, I don't mean to cause you any sorrow but you know what I mean. I don't even know what the hell the song's about but the original version makes me not care (that's how good it is), whereas every other performance by anyone makes it an effort to listen to, and when Prince does it I'm just waiting to hear what variation of the guitar solo he's going to play. It's a one off. No one should ever sing it again.
But on a positive note, Diva Fever could well become the new Wendy & Lisa. Let's just hope there's enough hot water for the pair of them. [Edited 10/16/10 14:45pm] | |

I liked her long notes, especially the ending. I appreciate when artists who cover Prince's songs use somewhat of their own style and cut out the song's original timing to make it something of their own cover, like she did. She didn't try to sing Prince's exact notes, which made her cover a success. Kudos, girl. Great job
