He sold out the first night of the Essence Festival in 2004. This is a hugh football stadium. You need to do your reserch.

Really, so he played by himself then, the only act on the bill? All the tickets sold were JUST for the Prince show and didn't include admittance to any other shows on other days? It was a FESTIVAL. lol And you need to refrain from including unnecessary condescending comments in your posts.

Yes, it was Prince only the first opening night with the Time, Sheile E, and Wendy joining. It was the first time the first night of the Essence Festival had a sellout on the opening night.

I am not being condesending I am telling the truth and it would be great if some of orgers did not get upset when they are wrong about something.

if its not about money, then what is the offer he could not refuse? warmer air?

please. i'm not fooled by scouts claiming he has 'special reasons'.

PRINCE. LOVES. MONEY.

Exactly. I think folks arent understanding what Im saying.

Say what you want...Prince wants to get paid. PERIOD

Remember his whole rant about itunes not paying him an advance, etc. Sorry thats the only sort of quote that I can call him on this, but we all know that he had some legal issues this year and immediately went to work on a thrown together tour of Europe.

Several of us here screamed "money grab!" Now...where could he possibly make more money than on a STADIUM (not basketball arena or small theater) tour of the US.

After all these years, dont you think he would have done this if he felt it would have been successful? What other reason could he have other than wanting to save face and not be embarassed by failing to draw on the level of other legends (Rolling Stones, Madonna, etc)?

Some may say that this is not what Prince is all about, etc, but I personally feel this is at least one of the reasons the man hasnt made the attempt.

Now...hopefully we'll get some kind of tour in 2011!!!

Sorry you are taking my comments as condescending but I have been to the Essence festival before and you can buy separate tickets for each night or a package according to the Essence people they never had a sellout of a first night show for the entire 10 years of the fest at that time. Do you really think the first night being Prince and friends only was filled with fans who just came to see the friends? Try giving credit were credit is due. He sold out a large stadium in the U.S within the last decade facts are facts.

Younger fans (17-30) cannot spend 60$ for a concert ticket these days, and many old-school hardcore fans probably don't care about 20Ten and its tour (which has been dismissed as unispired), and let's not forget that 20Ten hasn't received radio support or promotion...

Prince knows this...

I'm 20 and I will spend $200-$300 if I have to. I've only seen him live once when he did GMA in 2006 (I became a fan in 2004 after he visited my state sad ) Forget books for school, seeing Prince live is a top priority! I'm already saving up lol

I'm 17 and I plan on spendin exactly the same amount as Majestic One claimed. Plus I've never seen him in concert and I am gonna take a hike over to New York from Indy, so yeah. Haha totally agree on puttin off the college stuff for this man perform! Totally dippin' into the educational stipend funds

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Hello org,

Prince does not hate the U.S at all.......

Prince has no fear of touring the U.S. at all.....

Prince is not in (need) of money at all........ He is doing them for very very specials reasons. It has not 1 thing 2 do with money.

Prince will perform in the U.S., it may not be a mini tour like all would like but he will perform. He may just do states/cities such as N.Y., FL., Atl., Detroit, TX, L.A. (a couple), then back to Minn.-(kinda of a fund raiser thingy like last yr.).

I know it seems like 4 ever but just b more patience he will be there. Remember many didn't think he would perform back in the U.S. last yr. but he did. lol

Hang in there luv u all

Til next time smile

Well u wanted him, now he is here!!!! Patience ppl.

U R NOT BETTER THAN ANYONE NOR R U PERFECT!!
