I read something somewhere about Prince and his feet.

Apparently, caused possibly by his penchant for high-heeled tight fitting footwear he's suffered terribly with 'Onychomycosis' over the years.

It's basically a form of toenail fungus that feeds off the protein inside the toe and can kick up something stinky. This is reportedly the reason scented candles, joss sticks and the like follow him everywhere.

Prince tried to make light of the problem with a subtle reference to his toenail clippings in a song.

As far as the story goes, he gave pet names to his toenails after they twisted and disfigured and were difficult to trim. When leaving a podiatrists clinic in L.A. he gave an 'associate' his discarded toenail clippings saying "Here, some Diamonds from the left foot, Pearls from the right".

This started a trend and after some time there were rumours of band members in on the joke keeping these 'Diamonds & Pearls' in hankies and in pockets on stage. Rumour has it Maceo Parker had some in his top pocket for every performance during the O.N.A. Tour.

There was a picture in some article a while back (I forget which magazine) that shows lying on a couch reading the Bible with his bare feet showing. And if I remember correctly aren't his feet showing on the pictue sleeve label of the "I Would Die 4 U"/"Another Lonely Christmas" vinyl 12"?
