I'd like to see Roadhouse Garden and Dream Factory make the light of day on a extended disc.

I don't think this will happen. Not any time soon anyhow.

Exactly! Too much credit is given to cd's & remastering. Vinyl had the best natural sound. If U listen to the "Ultimate Prince" 12" remixes on there were amazing in sound..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

There really is a lot of truth to this. With the help of eBay and a few great local stores, I've managed to replace a lot of my vinyl and though I'm beyond familiar with the Prince catalog, in many cases it feels like I'm hearing it for the first time. I had forgotten how much I dug Good Love until I heard it again (uncut unlike that shitty Crystal Ball version) on the Bright Lights Big City soundtrack..which is great in it's entirety by the way. It's my newest vinyl acquisition. "Hope is the feeling we have that the feeling we have is not permanent."-Mignon McLaughlin

There's a TON of music used in the movie that I'd love to have as full versions without dialogue over the top of it.

I know what you mean. they could almost warrant an entire orchestral CD. .
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
I agree, Prince's CD's should be remastered. Personally, I got tired of waiting for Warner Brothers, and created expanded editions myself.

Unedited and live versions would be great but i bet we'll have just b-sides...

Whatever it is we do get (if ever) people will still bitch and complain about it being crap.
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Not crap because the warner era albums are all good, just disappointing

well i think they are unlikely in the next few years but i think eventually...yes..there will be remasters...who's to say prince wont change his religious views in the future....he has done so in the past....he might come to realise that larry really is full of bullshit...that god can mean to you whatever you want it to mean.....yes i think we will see remasters......eventually...

I don't understand why people are clinging to this meeting so much. Prince doesn't need to visit the WB offices to set up remasters. This can be done via the phone and the internet (yes Prince uses the internet).
| |

Well, remembering the tensions between both parts it's quite an event.
Happily enough, human beings still do business around a table. I guess they had to discuss a lot of issues.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Right, but what says remasters were one of those issues? Prince has stated for the better part of 15 years his intentions when it comes to his material while it is still owned by WB. He has not suggested anything otherwise during that time, either. The last opportunity he had to do something like this was Ultimate, which would've had a different tracklist had Prince not been involved (eg more songs).
I think its wishful thinking on the part of fans. Sorry. And I'm not sure what the source of this info is other than, I believe, Dr Funkenberry or whomever, but that doesn't mean the meeting was a sitdown and chat type of meeting. It's impossible to know the details. Remasters would not be on the top of the list of guesses I would give for a meeting between WB and Prince in 2010.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Oh I agree with you, there's no real indication they met about deluxe editions. Or that they made an agreement. But what would they meet for ? I doubt warner wants to distribute Prince's next album.
I guess if they made an agreement, Prince wouldn't be the first to make it public after all the bad comments he made on warner, it wouldn't look good.
Officially Prince is more concerned about the future than his back catalogue, but let's get realistic, if comes the big money....

Interesting enough, all the people P worked with back when he was with the WB are no longer with them (I've heard). So it sounds like it would be 'clean slate' for both of them, for that matter, one would think.

Interesting yes, but was it really a problem of persons ?
Prince wanted to release 10 albums a year. Warner prefered quality control. As would do ANY record company. And the post-warner albums prooved them right.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
With all due respect unless you work with Prince or Warners, (maybe you do) you do not know 100% that this is a fact.

It'll be interesting if there is any mention of this in any official capacity at all, but I won't hold my breath (besides, I'm busy holding it for Militant's alleged 20TEN Special Edition for the US). [Edited 9/22/10 8:11am]
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
You're a wise man, i won't hold my breath neither as i think if it happens it will be fairly disappointing !
What do you mean by special edition ?
I live in France where it was distributed with a newspaper but at 10 in the morning you could'nt find it anywhere and i woke up too late that day. Nevertheless i don't care, the album is totally unimpressive.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Militant knows someone who apparently worked on the 20TEN album who stated that there was an intended US release that was more substantial than the 10 songs on the European release. Take it with a grain of salt as any information in the Prince world must be taken. Typically, official announcements are just as reliable as word of mouth ones anyway w/ Prince.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Well, let's hope the added tracks will be better than wjhat he gave to europe !
