i really do think the 20Ten project is over and done with, P got well paid, Tax & bill collectors got paid, some Europeans got happy with the tour = mission accomplished.

As for the never ending deluxe editions debate, can you imagine P being in control of the Dirty Mind collection! - what would that end up like!!!. Personally I think there's wayyyy too much new & challenging music coming out to be wasting time listening to 20-30 year old music again.

Interesting enough, all the people P worked with back when he was with the WB are no longer with them (I've heard). So it sounds like it would be 'clean slate' for both of them, for that matter, one would think.

Interesting yes, but was it really a problem of persons ?

Prince wanted to release 10 albums a year. Warner prefered quality control. As would do ANY record company. And the post-warner albums prooved them right.

& I've read that also, about P wanting to do that. Sometimes I sit back and say that he had that much material that he would've released ... That's INSANE but, in a good way. & now ladies and gentlemen, that would be the reason we have a infamous 'vault' ...

And one day somebody will open the vault. But honestly, judging on the abondant material published on various boots, a large majority deserves to stay unreleased.

That said, if we exclude live recordings/jams & unedited versions of published tracks, i'm sure there's enough material for a nice boxset.

They should throw the RazorMaid remix on there also.

14. Crucial (Full Length Version)*

IIRC There are two versions of Crucial.

Why not also include alternate takes of some SOTT material, e.g. Strange Relationship including the sitar etc? And the FULL version of Power Fantastic, i.e. including the band tuning up?

Perhaps they've still got an "original" mix from the album somewhere, the one Eric/Alan Leeds liked so much?

Yes, I'd agree with the Razormaid remix of Housequake (as it was officially commissioned).

The 'finished' version of Crucial is the guitar one. The sax version is just a rough mix made when Eric was asked to put some sax on the track. Prince had never intended for all that sax to be used in the finished mix.

I deliberately left off Strange Relationship W&L mix and Power Fantastic, as I'd save them for a Roadhouse Garden/Dream Factory release (along with many other more band-orientated recordings from around that time). That's also the reason I didn't include All My Dreams on the Parade outtakes.

IMHO they should make a Blu-ray, where you can switch between configurations and/or construct your own favorite version, e.g. one with the "full length" versions (i.e. what PR would have been like if there hadn't been a time limit for technical reasons). Not only would we have far superior sound, but also a completely new insight into how the album became the way it was.

(They should do that for several of the other albums, too.)

Also nice would be to compare the original live recordings with the versions that ended up on the album. Perhaps as part of a documentary?

IMHO this set needs to include the gig where so much of the album was recorded. I'd argue that this would need to be in Blu-ray format, so everyone can watch the gig at the proper framerate and the audio would be in superior quality.

It's not old vs new music.

One day i wanna listen to an old willie dixon record, the next day i'll listen to dubstep white labels. That's what makes music so good.

I recently discovered the Japanese 'Remasters' of his classic albums. Not sure if they are official or not, but they sure do sound 10x better than the CD's I had. It's like listening to the album for the first time! Especially 'Controversy' and 'Sign O' The Times'.

They were not remastered.
