Screams of Passion

I've been listening to the Girl 6 Soundtrack lately, and this song has really grabbed hold of me. The lyrics and vocal arrangement on this song are simply breathtaking. Has anyone ever heard a version of Prince doing the lead vocal on this? Does it exist?

BTW, She Spoke 2 Me is another favorite on this compilation. Although, I prefer the full version on Old Friends. It's such an underrated classic to me musically, vocally and lyrically. Overall, I liked the way this comp was put together. The mix of old and new flows together so well. I love going from Girls & Boys to Count the Days, which by the way is one of my favorite Prince (I know, it's not technically his) songs.

Prince vocal of Screams Of Passion is not circulating, but several of the other Family album tracks are (as well as a couple of out-takes from the LP).

If you're not familar with the Family album, you really owe it to yourself to check it out, it's a fantastic LP and looks towards what Prince would later do on Parade and the with Madhouse albums. smile

Thanks so much for the response! I never heard the Family album as I never really bought the "Prince production" albums outside The Time and Sheila. I hope it wasn't a PP release because I'll probably never find it. Well, my quest begins . . .

Thanks again.

I heard it. It's a rough demo (Prince giving instructions in the beginging). The place I found it (it was a "video") has pulled it by now, I'm sure.

That would probably be the rehersal for the live show.

impossible

it's not rehearsal for the show, it's when he's writing/creating the song giving instructions to put the drum machine faster, then singing the melody with few words, not yet all of them, i have it on cd

OK. AFAIK, the Prince vocal studio version (not any rehersal version) of Screams Of Passion is not circulating, if I'm behind the times on this one, please let us know what CD it is on, so I can grab a copy, I'd love to hear it to smile

Yeah, it's a rehearsal of the song with the Revolution, you hear him call on BrownMark & Wendy, it's a beautiful arrangement

Wow, I'm glad I checked back here this morning. I was looking on Ebay and Amazon for it and the price for the CD is way more than I would pay for it. I will begin my download search thanks to you guys. I'll also look for that rehearsal version with P's vocal.

Thanks again!

They used to have a live recording of Prince and the Revolution actually making the song in 1984. it was like 9 minutes long. it was very beautiful when it came together. the sad thing is they took the video with the live recording off youtube. but it was just audio nothing visual.

The Family CD is also very heavily counterfeited, so most of the items showing up for sale will be fakes at hugely inflated prices. Chances are, if a seller has sold more than one or two Family CDs, they're dealing in bogus material. Go here to learn about the doppelganger discs that are making the rounds: http://www.moquake.com/fo...3&t=31

I would give up my entire associated artist CD collection before letting go of my Family CD.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I love the rehearsal version...it has a haunting-like synth in the background...prince is kind of got some of the words down, but hums and makes up some of the rest...it's cute.

believe it is about 8 minutes long. The drum track on it is not the same as the released version either...fyi.

It's similar but there are two 'Princey' rimshots (kuh kuh) after the kickdrum and the snare is not the same as in the released.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.
