I personally believe that Donny Hatahaway is perhaps one of the bigger influences on Princes music. HE rarely seems to be mentioned though. I hear many similarities in there music. Particularly lots of things he did with the mid 90's NPG.
Listen to everything is everything
That could easily be the afore mentioned NPG jamming at an aftershow.. also prince lifted the little refrain in that song for strange relationship.
