PR the movie, questions

After Morris teases The Kid, Morris stands alone in the hallway, leaning against the wall stroking his moustache.....does he regret it being mean to the kid? is he afraid that he's lit a fire under the kid?

The Kid runs off the Stage and into the dressing room, and Billy goes back to talk to him and says "like father like son...what a waste..."......why did the kid run off the stage?

When the Kid goes off the stage after doing the Beautiful Ones...he goes to his motorcycle by taking a fire escape, and Appollonia approaches him...When the kid finishes PR, he runs out of the club to his motorcycle....without having to use the fire escape. Weird, huh?

1) I think Morris regrets what he said. It was a very low blow, and it shows even Morris has heart.

2) He was mad at himself, and his relationship w/ his band. "Darling Nikki" wasn't as powerful and great of a song as previous material he's had on stage. He was also mad at Morris courting Apollonia in front of him, and her going along with it. It's why she ran out too. The song was pointed at her. He was attacking her, and then felt bad about it. But he also knew he was losing control of his music and his band, and his girlfriend.

3) There's no time line saying Prince left First Avenue directly after "The Beautiful Ones". I actually think he went looking for Apollonia at her hotel. She was upstairs, remember, and he was coming back down, the back way, from looking for her. She ended up being outside waiting on him. That's why he jokes, "We have to go to your place," because they were probably already there.

I didn't see him run offstage boohooing after he and the band did Elephants and Flowers...maybe he was beyond caring by that stage.

Yup, Morris definitely regrets what he said. Morris isn't a bad guy in the movie. The Kid is actually more of a jerk imo.

Were you just watching this on TV? It was on a few hours ago. I watched it. Again.

There is a deleted scene, at least there is in the script, between the time he leaves the stage after Beautiful Ones and when he leaves the club and meete Apples. Not sure if it was actually shot or not, but that might be why he's coming from the fire escape in that scene. Or perhaps on the night he sings PR he just parked his bike in another spot.

I love Morris and Jerome in the audience at the end, it was like the cutest little ending.

Im sure its been answered in here before but I don't recall.

Why does the quality of the film change during scenes in The Kids bedroom when his parents are fighting?

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Come on, now. That shit's Film 101. Actually, if you flip your audio track, on the 25th anniversary edition (either regular HD-DVD, or BluRay) and listen to Albert Magnoli's commentary, he'll tell you the exact reason - the same reason we all know.

I'm not feeling that one. Do you have documentation for that? Is it in the commentary? I can't imagine Warner Bros giving a flying flip about what was, essentially, an indie movie. WB didn't even pick up the distribution until the 11th hour, practically.

I have to get me a copy of the anniversary edition. Im staking on thin ice already with the damn VHS, I'm afraid it's gonna break and I'll have nothing. Even though it comes on tv like every 10 minutes anyway..

Work Print makes sense. Did they say why they decided not to bother with a final cut? Did they run out of money or something?

They lost the master, so the work print had to be put in.

Is there a reason why Prince doesn't take Apollonia to the real Lake Minnetonka?

Really?

I was wondering more why he didn't take her to Disneyland.

Cuz Lake Minnetonka is a long way from First Avenue...and he couldn't wait that long to see her naked. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
