Definitely, from my limited live experiences, the Musicology show in Columbia,SC. People in this town still talk about it. Seeing him in 98 at the key club in LA was damn cool, too.

All of them really, but i suppose the two Diamonds & Pearls shows at Earls Court in London, 15th and 16th June '92, were special as those were my first.

Seeing him in my home city in '93 was nice too despite it being not that great a gig.

But really, all the Prince gigs i have attended have been memorable for their own reasons.

First time i saw Prince Live..Purple Rain Feb. 1985 New Orleans Superdome. I was 16 years old and extremely impressionable. However I can't blame Prince on how I turned out. lol

Every time i see footage of that tour makes me teary eyed. For those not in the know, 4 the tears in your eyes was recorded in the Superdome the day after this show. If i only knew then.... wink

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

1. 1997 Love 4 One Another Tour - Louisville Garden - Louisville, Ky

2. 1988 Loversexy - Riverfront Coliseum - Cincinnati, OH

3. 1984 Purple Rain - Rupp Arena - Lexington, Ky

4. 2002 One Nite Alone Tour - Palace Theater - Louisville, Ky

The concert in 1997 was my fav because it was more personal. Lovesexy was probably the best "show" but the 1997 concert stood out for different reasons.

The view was amazing, I was 15 or so bodies from the stage. But what made it such a surreal experience was early on in the concert he was caught off guard

by the crowd chanting "Oooah Oooah!" in Morris Day type fashion, and he literally went to the mic and asked, "Oh, it's gonna be like that, is it ?"

I know, not that big of deal, right? Well, it wouldn't be unless you were the one that started the chant!!! I don't know what came over me to start it, but to have Prince acknowledge it was a feeling I'll never have again. To think, I caught Prince off guard. I went home after the show and called all my friends up and told them about it.

The next day I bought the local paper and sure enough they did a review of the concert. But what was so unexpected, the writer actually described what happened about the crowd's chant and P's response. The writer then went on to say that after that, Prince turned it up a notch, in which I totally agreed. cool I cut the piece out and still have it to this day

Okay, that's my "Crazy Prince Fan" moment...sorry

At the indigo2 in the am of the 29th August 2007. Small venue, power trio, prince rocked hard. Awesome gig. I walked out of that one saying that, after that I didn't need to see prince play again. Of course I want to and indeed have but that gig totally fulfilled my prince rock fantasies. I still listen to the boot regularly. headbang

I have to agree about this though a couple of the other Indigo shows were close seconds, not only because of the amazing setlist and rock feel but also because he held my hand which was cool (though didnt think much of it till a girl came up and spoke to me about it at the next after party saying he had been holding it for ages, though i swear it was only a few seconds lol ) and I managed to get the pick he used for all of the show but the encore biggrin

The best Prince concert I ever saw was April Fools Day, 1985.

Prince & The Revolution: The Purple Rain Tour at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Everything about it was magical.

This was my first Prince show. Remember after Take Me With U, he said "Thank you, and good night! April Fools."? Amazing show, but not my best.

Yeah, that was an absolutely incredible show. November 7th, 1988 I believe.

November 6 and 7. Two nights. That was a Sunday and Monday. I def went Sunday the 6th. I took a late bus back to San Diego because I had to work Monday (I was in the Navy).

Holy shit. I went to the Nov 6 show too! And then we drove back down to San Diego!

I grew up in Spring Valley. Only difference is that I was only in the 9th grade, so you got me in years ernest. That was my first Prince show and my older sister took me with all her catty friends. I remember getting home around 2am, staying up the entire night jamming to everything Prince I had, not sleeping and going to school...straight PUMPED! It was official...Prince RULED!!!!!!

I was only 9 when he came to the Sports Arena for the 1999 show in 83 and my mom was not about to let me go to that. I was devastated as my brother and sister both went! Still remember the commercial on 92.5. He didnt come back to San Diego til 96/97 and my bro/sis didnt start driving till well after the Purple Rain tour...it was a LOOONG 5 years waiting to see the man.

My biggest regret (Prince-wise) is that I was working in politics in 1988. When Lovesexy hit Chicago (closest to home, for me), I was at a convention where the future president was being nominated by his party, doing my press gig.

I missed the entire tour. pout

Well here's one.

I was in MPLS working as a video editor for Chris Moon (!).

Chris was making industrial films.

The Symbol Tour was going to be at Glam Slam that very night.

Super psyched.

Phone rings.

I pick up. (mistake)

Chris's associate requests that I drive out to Wisconsin at a chicken slaughtering house and film ALL NIGHT LONG.

Prince or chicken slaughtering warehouse?

I chose the work.

Worked all freaking night in a scene from hell.

My friend tells me all about the show. Only chance I would have had to see all those songs in that setting.

The woman that works with Chris calls me up and says the footage is unuseable and I'm fired.

I have nothing.

And I missed the Symbol show.

Lesson learned:

Always go to the Prince show.

You definitely made the wrong decision! Great show! The show, Feb 18, 1993, wasn't actually part of the tour, although the complete show was performed. It was a warm up for the Arsenio Hall show, and the tour. The first airings of Peach and She's Always In My Hair. Different stage than the actual tour too, for size contsraints obviously.

Where did you sit?

If Sheila was sitting at her drums, facing forward, and looked off at about the 2 o'clock position, I was right about there. Apollonia was a big more to her 3 o'clock position. We saw Apples before the show autographing programmes. I was 20 at the time, btw.

I got to the base around 2 a.m. or so too (North Island). I was beat the next day, but never regretted it.

Oh yeah...the 11/06 LA Lovesexy show was awesome, but it comes in a close second to the Apr 93 Universal Amphitheater show...Act I...dont remember the exact date, but it was the Saturday show that was rescheduled from earlier in the week. I went thru hell trying to redo my work schedule to be able to make it, but I did and that was hands down my fav of the 15 shows I've been to.

The Symbol album sounded amazing live and when he went into "She's Always In My Hair" I damned near passed out.

Awesome night...fresh outta high school...met a girl at the show...planned to go back home to San Diego afterwards...didnt make it home till the next night. Ahhh...the single days.

Love this topic and people's stories. I've been to about 80 shows ranging from the Purple Rain tour in 1985 to the gig at Paisley Park in 2009, so the question is very difficult to answer. I have to go with either the Purple Rain tour in Indianapolis or the Lovesexy tour in Chicago. The energy he had during that time is incomparable. My most memorable was Mayte's 21st birthday party in 1994 at Paisley Park. There were about 30 people there. They played on a riser about a foot off the ground in the atrium. I was front and center and Prince handed me the tambourine he was playing. I just stood there frozen! My friend finally nudged me and I took it. Eric and Levi were guesting. They played You and I, Flashlight, Pussy Control, Race, Mad, and a lengthy Happy Birthday. And I got cake too! cool

Well seen as I stopped counting when I reached 100 shows - taking concerts and aftershows as separate shows, that is a very difficult question to answer.

However, an aftershow is not a concert. A concert to me is the warm up for the club event that follows.

Let's see some notables. No still tough.

OK best concert - wow this is well tough, bob.

NO can't do it. So, in no particular order.

Prince, Hammersmith npg music club years - plays sits and plays acoustic guitar, some guy shouts: "I love you." Prince stops and gives a response, we all laugh. He's got a great sense of humour has Prince. That was fantastic though to see him do acoustic guiar.

Prince, Paris in some massive arena err 92/93 - Aug bank hols as it led to my first aftershow at La Rex - again awesome.

Prince, The Gold Experience - all the UK shows.

Prince NY 2002 ONA - The whole day. Over 6 hours of performance. As a day that is the ONE. Fantastic soundcheck. Stuff like Calhoun Square, Power Fantastic and Joy in Repitition. Then the show. Then probably the greatest aftershow ever - the one from where ONA It ain't over live has the first 3 songs taken - 2nd performance of Joy in a completely different arrangement. Followed By George Clinton, then Musiq, then Alicia Keys, then maceo and on and on and on.

Considering it was only months after the horrendous cowardly acts, which is still upsetting to remember even now as I write. It was a very powerful day indeed.

And then, seeing Prince in Tokyo and getting to become friends with wonderful nihonjin.

Oh yeah, one more - Birmingham I think when Prince had the rappers and did an encore of Call The Law after 80% of the audience had left. That was brilliant.

Err, Berlin. I'm stood with my legs against the stage, really low. Prince goes to turn round and almost hits me in the face with the guitar, but I pull a ninja move. Then he grabs my arm and pulls me on stage - again (as in I'm on stage with him again, that was the first time he'd actually pulled me on stage) !!!! He shows me a dance move he wants me to copy and goes from the song he's aborted into something else and proceeds to get others on stage - that was music club year too.

BUT IF I HAD TO PICK ONE

WERCHTER 20ten. An awesome display of genius. He sees the rain has stopped. "It's going to be a hot summer". Sings song. Starts raining. You know what's coming. Yeah Purple Rain in the rain. Like wow - a once in a lifetime experience! And the rest. Amazing performance of one of my all time favourites - Forever in my life.

Aftershows q even tougher!

The best was in '09. Really hope a bootleg of that happens eventually. The second best was the 2nd Musicology aftershow.

The setlist may not look great on paper, or even sound that exciting on bootleg audio, but it was a fantastic experience. It was an outdoor show downtown and the weather was beautiful under the night sky. We just came from a performance by The Time a couple blocks away, so we were primed for more Minneapolis Sound. Prince was in a great mood and we heard songs that were fairly new to his catalog being played live - very cool. The crowd was mellow and appreciative. Sometimes it's all the little things that make the best memories. I still wear my Mill City t-shirt all the time.

I'm trying to find the setlist for the aftershow at the 9:30 Club in DC. So fucking amazing. Standing not 10 feet away from him, it was the best moment of my life. He worked the keys that night, leaving the guitar alone, as far as I can remember. He was also crackin jokes about some big tall dude who was wearing a silly condom/penis hat thing as well.

Found the setlist for the aftershow:

18 & Over

Mr. Happy

I'll Take You There

I Got The Feelin' / The Way You Do The Things You Do / Shout

Gett Off

Already said my first fav (21/09/07 show and afteshow...apart from the annoying guy next to me who tried to talk to me all the time).

Second fav was Gold Experience, Birmingham NIA ...second row, Prince smiled at me when I threw the wildsign up before anyone else and (COVER YOUR EARS) I was so close I could see the contours of Maytes special zone in those gold hot pant...seem to recall he got someone on stage to sing Peach to.

On a side note I got this seats (the best for a proper show) from the organisation of Eileen AFTER Orince had closed her down...never been as good since (even mny fav choice concert was a single ivory eBay job and the aftershow thanks to the huge huge heart of a fellow offer and her bro)
