2011 - 25 years after the Revolution ...

Since the Purple Rain 20th and 25th Anniversary has come and gone do you think there is one last chance for a 25 year End of the Revolution Anniversary Album / Tour ? I would like to see The Roadhouse Garden project dug up and put into motion once again. How about a compilation album of all those unreleased Revolution tracks from 84 - 86 and a tour in support of those tracks only , NO HITS ? To me Prince wanted this to happen in 2000 , but screwed Wendy & Lisa. Then in 2006 he made peace with them and even recorded some songs and played a few gigs together. So let's get all 6 members together for what would be the second coming of the Revolution ! Sound far fetched , not really.

Wendy and Lisa recently said "the ball is in his court", Matt played at a concert in St Louis Park for free recently, not sure what Bobby's up to, and I think Brownmark just released a cd. At this point, the only people that would care if the Revolution were back together are the hardcore fans. I don't think Prince would spend the extra $ to hire these people again, considering what material he's been rehashing for the past 15 years. Any capable musician could fill those shoes. As far as the "few gigs" they played together, what are you referring to? I may have missed something, but the only ones I know of are the Brit Awards with Wendy and Lisa, Wendy on Tavis, and Wendy in Minneapolis on 7/7/7.

I agree for the most part. Though it would still be nice to see it happen. Not like most people would be mad about it. However, I don't think it will. lol Not in the way some folks want, with a happy, happy, fa-la-la reunited Revolution. I just don't believe that is ever going to happen. I could see Wendy & Lisa, maybe Matt, getting together with Prince to finish up and release some tracks, though. But then you hear about how Prince still doesn't approve of certain lifestyle choices and it makes me loop back around to the beginning; lets just move on. Unfortunately, the music (released and otherwise) was just so damn good, holds so many great memories, that it keeps me making rambling undecided posts like this one. lol

A Revolution tour would be about $$$ and $$$ only. So a tour without the hits would never happen. Can you imagine going to see a gig with a re-formed Revolution where they did not play tracks from Purple Rain?

I'm all for the unreleased songs and Roadhouse Garden and all, but i do not really want to see a bunch of ageing pot bellied Rev members hobbling around like its 1999.

Never say never but...naah, I dont see it happening. Maybe a one off show like Sheila's benefit a few years ago, but not a tour.

What Id love to see is Prince go back in the studio with Wendy and Lisa (and Sheila for that matter) and really listen to their input, really drop all the ego and nonsense and create a monster album where he doesnt just direct the girls but works with them to lay down some meaningful stuff. As we saw before, they can only add to his greatness.

But sadly, thats just as far fetched as a Revolution reunion tour.

Wendy and Lisa, like Prince, have changed as artists. What may have been a great collaboration back in the eighties, may not be so great in 2010. While i agree that it would be benificial for Prince to work with others, getting Wendy and Lisa on board does not automatically equal greatness.

I think their music would probably come across as fairly boring to most people these days given that they would be still working under the constraints of Prince's direction.

Nah. Then it would be seen as some desperate attempt to rekindle the magic of the 80's.

Cursing, certain types of partying (possibly), not being a JW - those are choices. You took my statement as exclusively relating to a gay/lesbian lifestyle. While you're correct in that regard as far as Prince is concerned, my intent was not so narrow as that.
