Mr. Goodnight V. International Lover...?! Just listening to the cheesy lyrics/rap of Mr. Goodnight and was suddenly struck by (perhaps?) an attempt to imitate elements of International Lover? Although there are no direct similarities between the two--somehow when I listened to Mr. Goodnight, it seemed to me that P was in another form trying to recreate the feel/vision/rap of International Lover...and it fails... I may be way off but has anyone else thought this... Not the music, mind you, but the appeal of International Lover suddenly struck me as "wanna be" in Mr. Goodnight... Listening again to hear what struck me besides "plane" allusions... |

I saw it differently - Mr Goodnight is not an attempt to recreate the past, rather it is what the person who wrote International Lover would write when he is more mature, subtle and sure of himself. The first is a wishful fantasy of a young twenty something, the second, cocky assurance of an evening that will happen. |

Could the similarity be that Mr. Goodnight is yet another prince "character" or alter-ego? |

Mr. Goodnight is an ok song, but comparing it against International Lover doesn't bode well for Mr.G
Asking which is better is sort of like saying what's better after a hot date, a handshake or some sex "Prince doesn't have verbal diarrhea, he has studio diarrhea...." Allen Leeds |
