My two favourites are Adore and Pink Cashmere.

Just how Prince can record a song as good as Pink Cashmere

and leave it collecting dust for a couple of years is completely beyond me.

Also love ForeverInMyLife but I wish that he'd finished recording it, it's very sparse

and demo sounding on SOTT. I long for more acoustic guitar, like the live version.

Interestingly, do you think Prince could possibly come up with a song that great these

days and choose to leave it sounding so under developed? I think not....

With regards to Pink Cashmere, Prince wrote the song before/or shortly after presenting

Anna Garcia (later Fantastic) with a pink cashmere jacket for her 18th birthday.

However, every site I have searched lists Anna's birthday as 31st December 1973. This can't be right

because the jacket was definitely given to her in 1989. Anna was the inspiration behind Vicki Waiting,

recorded in December 1988 and the jacket had '89 sewn on the reverse.

So either Anna is lying about her age and was, in fact, born in 1971, OR.... it was actually a gift for

her 16th birthday! Prince, you naughty boy!

I love the minimalist vibe of FIML. It made it sound more dramatic and spontaneous.

The acoustic guitar playing at the end makes me think that it was longer than the version presented to us, if its true, I hope we get the chance to hear it.

To answer your question, his live performances(esp the aftershows) compensate for the rigidness of some of his recent studio recordings.

Why would you put "Jughead" on a compilation of Love Songs? I delete it off my computer every time it pokes its wack ass head up.
