I always thought Mad Sex on the New Power Soul album was a Prince song but now I'm confused...

One of my favourite drummers, Aaron Spears, plays along to an almost identical sounding track in this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/wa...MdlkaulwRc which is apparently a song called "Give The Lord A Praise" by Aaron's first band - The Gideon Band.

So my question is, who sampled who? Did Prince sample it from the Gideon Band or vice versa?

They sampled Prince 4 that groove.

The Gideon Band are very hard to find info on in general. Been trying to buy their music for a while but I can't find an outlet. I wouldn't ask the question here if I had not already searched for the answer. Even dug out my copy of NPS to see if there was any credit for the sample but no joy lol.

Actually, why not just tweet the guy? He's on Twitter I noticed, and if he's on there, he's interactive enough to find your question and possibly answer it. Couldn't hurt. Plus you'd be in touch w/ someone you really enjoy. Worth a shot, just to get the backstory on it.
