What date was your show? I think I was still on tour in Canada. Only got home a couple of days ago.

This past Thursday. (the show is every Thursday, but the 20Ten show was this past week).

Ah. Yeah, I was still in Canada on Thursday. Maybe next time though, just give me a shout in advance as I tend to have a pretty random schedule most of the time, lol. Would be great to be on your show though.

I like it a lot as well. Purple and Gold was just a 'fight' song so it was never in my thoughts. I hope there is more coming soon from Prince.

See my sig? that still stands. I'm surprised. Usually i'm pretty much done with new P albums after a week or two, and resort to listening to my couple of favourite tracks by now.

Personally, 20Ten is a success because i'm still listening to it pretty much in full.

My panel was positive, and honest, which is all I need. I don't want asskissers on board at any time. If someone truly loves a Prince album (did people forget the HOST?), then they can express that as much as someone who doesn't care for certain stuff on it.

I agree that sometimes Price's music requires several listens before you really appreciate it. Stinkers are stinkers, but many times songs I have thought at first were "meh" turned out to be permanent playlist favs.

I find 2010 to be a pleasant surprise from a 52 year old who cannot be expected to have an endless reservoir of material. There are lots of moments on this album that remind me of why I love Prince and that is all I can ask for.

Al Davis

It is a good album..not excellent but darn good.

I tried to listen to Lovesexy and the old albums...ran back to Lotus and 20Ten...they just seem way too played out to me by now. It's like I found everything that I could out of all those albums already....still elarning the words to some of the songs from the past 10 years.

I said on my radio show that 20Ten was "appetizing", and that if it were a meal, I'd leave very little on my plate.

I asked everyone on the panel to give me a one word summation of the album:

Fenwick called it "okay"

Johnart called it "yummy"

Squirrelgrease called it "good"

Wyldflow3r said it "sucks"

I think it's his best in a decade. "Future Soul Song" is one of his top ballads since "The Love We Make". Yes, including "The One". It's up there with "The One", for sure.

Excellent? No, but better than anything in the past 10 or 12 years? Yes, indeed.

I thought Walk In sand was stronger than Future Soul Song..however..did you hear the way it was sung live with only piano? It sounds like a REALLY GOOD jam live with the background singers....sometimes less is more.

Can't believe after all these years he came out with a cd which got me hooked again wink

I agree 100% !

I love it !! It's the best he's done since Purple Rain! A lot of the recnet albums have been great as well like 3121, Musicology and Planet Earth.

I'm still diggin it. Play it for a friend over the weekend and he loved it.

And yes he's a Prince fan of many eras.

As I stated before, I've been listening to Prince's back catalog and seeing how I feel about past releases. Funny things is some stuff like Symbol album I kinda felt like some of it doesn't hold up to my ears. And I use to love that album

And then I played New Power Soul and really enjoyed it. When back in the day, until now, I wasn't very fond of it. Strange but true.cool

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

But who is to say someone is being honest, or not?

So many times on these boards it seems that it is the same people saying the same things!

The one's that think he has not had a good album in years seem to have that same opinion every time a new album comes out. The one's who have still enjoyed all of his work seem to still like what Prince puts out.

Then both sides are calling each other haters or purple kool-aid drinkers...

Really...where does it end? You have people stating how much they enjoy songs, and some of the "haters" attack them. You have people saying how much the songs are dog poo and the "lovers" attack them.

Really folks? Really?

An opinion is JUST that!

Personally, I still enjoy all the albums he has created. Not saying that every track is a favorite, but I still personally dig his style and the fact that he has dabbled with different sounds and styles. That is my HONEST opinion. But some would likely say I am drinking from the purple tank or something. ~chuckles~

Rather amusing!

You're not following the conversation here.

I'm talking about the people on my radio show, not prince.org's endless 20Ten threads. The people on my show, most of which are here on the org if you feel like calling them out one by one as to whether they're kool aid drinkers or haters, have no reason to either be an asskisser or a "hater". They're honest folks who had real opinions on the album.
