I never said the concerts were crap...my argument is that this tour is the worst in P's career.

Arguments such as " Vienna was cool" or " Vive Arras!" don't carry much weight.

funny how your arguments then supposedly do, even though you were not there and your evidence is at its very most circumstancial and hearsy.

you funky little troll!!! biggrin

I feel my list is legitimate.

Which parts do you feel are "hearsay"?

It's funny how anyone on the org who dares speak the truth aout Prince is automatically a "troll".

Once again, this is all too easy.

Still waiting for some intelligent replys ( there have been a couple...you know who you are).

The Hit N Run tour of 2000. I saw him at the Civic Center in Atlanta and he seemed to be going through the motions. Medleys and Najee murdering the last two minutes of Computer Blue did it for me.

Had a more jazzy feel and was more than likely a hint of what was to come in his music (The Rainbow Children)

You are so right this tour is the most catostrophic, mismanaged, ill performed, sideshow of a tour evah! I think Prince should pack it in! It's quite obvious he's fallen off yet again. This lin-up he's touring with is the most horrid, talentless roadshow evah!

(All opinions above are based upon having not attended any of the recent shows and is clearly coming out of my ass)

err

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Man, you're good! Saying that expressing experiences is too easy, at the same time implying that basing your opinions on those of others is not easy biggrin

By what law of anyone do you consider your so-called truth superior to that of others? I was saying you're being a troll since you just push aside any and all input here for the sake of your argument being held up and at the same time insulting those who give their input. To me, and that's my truth, that constitutes being a troll

The Gold Experience tour was probably his worst. Shows were few and undersold. He had built this elaborate stage set but had to dump it during the tour cause he couldn't afford to transport it. The tour lost staff, too. By the end of it Prince had to do his own sound. Pretty crazy . That HAS to have been the worst Prince tour.

Don't see why that makes it his "worst tour" - the music and performances were fantastic. And the stage was really cool too. The UK shows weren't poorly sold. And, also, Prince was doing his own sound for the whole tour! It was something he was experimenting with (not a great move, I have to say) and would disappear in to that golden tower to tweak the sound. It didn't seem to have a negative impact on the sound quality but, really, you need someone at front of house to address what the audience is hearing. That is nigh on impossible from the stage.

Which shows didn't have the full stage then? I wasn't aware of him having to dump it. It is possible that some venues were just not able to accomodate it, or that costs were too prohibitive (him not being able to afford it is unlikely - it not making financial sense is a bit different).

When your tour is doing so poorly that you have to cut staff and can't even afford to take your set with you, I'd say that's not a 'good' development. When has Prince done worse than that? My info about this comes from Alex Hann's Possessed if you want to look it up.

The stage set was 2 big for some of the venues, so was not used at them.

Yes, after the initial shows in London, Prince decided to leave parts of the stage set behind, as the cost of transporting the full stage set up was proving to be very costly and impractical.

For concerts outside of London, only the centre section was used.

Can you fucking read??? You have decided you do not like this music, band or Cd and therefore to you it is the worst tour. Not to the dozens of people who actually went to these shows or the media.

In addition, if any of the remaining shows are cancelled it might have a little something to do with the economy. If you can pull yourself away from your post and try reading other forums a few articles have been posted about dismal ticket sells and cancelations for lots of artist.

Considering P's age and lack of major record company promotion he appears to be doing good for himself and at the end of the day the important thing is to put on the best show you can which he appears to be doing. I saw him rock the Capital Center in Washington d.c. with a half filled areana on the Lovesexy tour in 88. He is the type of performer who is going to kick ass for a half filled stadium or a sellout because he is old school and anyone that can go see him live should while he is still performing because we are not seeing his type of showmanship much these days.

For these he rocks !!!

Ok so I got Oz wrong, the 2003 tour, still I was in Prince hibernation between 1998 and 2004, but the fact remains is he has never played New Zealand. Even Michael Jackson and the Rolling Stones have been here. Since the 90s NZ has been a death destination for American and British rock artists, ony washed up old ones, B grade stars and ex singers from split groups. Some examples of the luminaries we get here

Denis Lacorriere (Dr Hook singer)

Leo Sayer

Carole King and James Taylor (Ok they are A list, but they are like 70!)

Various line ups of the Drifters

Burt Bacharach, great but hes like 84.

Neil Sedaka

Boney M (Toured practically every year since 1992)

Michael (Forgot his last name, singer from Doobie Brothers)

Cat Stevens

Ok thats great but how about some one under 60. or who has had a hit since 1986.

The only current artists we have had here are Lady Gaga (Who loves NZ) and Idol fluff sensation Justin Beiber (Bieber?). Seriously we need Prince to come here, he would get a real welcome.

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I'm with you. I for one thought the Gold tour was fuckin awesome and inspired ( I saw 3 in the UK). The band were crazy good and the enery was brilliant. People have started slating the O2 shows now too! They were totally different of course ( I saw 5 including opening and closing night) and I thought the energy and show itself was superbly good for a mainstream 'hits' concert.

What evidence is it you need?

Whitney's tour was the most disastrous ever.

If Prince had been in a horrible mood, sung playback, been unable to hit the correct notes, not played any instruments, and/or acted completely bored and left the stage after an hour, then one could have easily agreed with you. But non of that has been the case. What do you want? A more exciting setlist?
