All this whinging, I would give my left arm to go to a Prince concert, you all complain about the same old songs, and lame new ones, at least you see him in North America and Europe, he dosen't give a flying fuck about the rest of the world. He hasn't been to Australia since the early 90s and never been to New Zealand. If Prince came here (Auckland) and played a concert consisting of Purple Rain and songs from The Rainbow Children, along with some preaching, I would be forever grateful for that small miracle. The mans 52, hes given his whole life to the stage, let him just have fun on the stage.

Prince has played Australia since the early '90's.

He played 5 shows in Australia in 2003.

Thanks Eire. You've put a smile on my face this morning. Some people here are gonna take what you say and react to it, whereas others are gonna realise you're rant for what it is. Forum chats and conversations are nigh on impossible really but I enjoyed listening to what you had to say.

As for Croke, well it cost myself and my wife a lot of money to make a long weekend of that no-show but we had a great time there in a great city. Would definitely go back to Dublin (if only for the fact that the Guinness tastes just that little bit better) so thanks Prince for forcing my hand on that one. Even though he's a tit for not playing and offering no apology. There's mysterious and there's plain arrogance.

Can't comment on any of this tour but I sure hopes he doesn't play England as my daughter is getting married this year and I couldn't afford to go.

On a side note I saw Jools Holland two weeks ago in the grounds of Ledbury Castle. All very civilised; ladies in dresses, picnic blankets and chairs and the sound of champagne corks popping. Ruby Turner was excellent by the way.

biggrin

This concert was better than "98 and the Nude tour in '90.

And better than TGE-tour when he played NO hits but almost only

songs we still had 2 discover on a CD that wasn't released yet.

If U didn't like it, 2 bad , U must have very high standards....I wonder wich artists U think

are better live than Prince ?

That's not the issue.

My point is that I feel P has really reached low point with this tour.

At least with TGE tour he kept his artistic integrity.

The Nude tour, I agree, wasn't great but there was at least a buzz about it.

The 20ten tour has been a major non event and gets my vote being the worst tour.

I think I've presented enough evidence to back this up.

Laydeez and gentlemen (and Bette) of the jury!

I put it to you that Prince's recent 20ten tour has been the most disastrous of his career.

The evidence?

Poor ticket sales. They even had to give away tickets or slash them by half price to get the punters in.

The setlist. Jesus H Christ! Has anything moved on since the O2 ? Answer?? NO!!!

Even Madonna" tell me when to stop miming" Ciccone lets her new songs live for a while onstage.

The band. Surely his lamest band ever. Cora? I think not! Shelby?? Crap cabaret bint or amazing talent waiting to be discovered??!! We all know the answer to that one!

The cancellations. We've all been a bit jittery since Croke Park and the recent events ( Good evening Geneva!!....NOT!!) have proved us right. Some even doubt ( or care) that Nice will take place.

The fashions. Who in the name of fuck told Prince he looked good in that stage outfit? Helen Keller??!!!

The support acts? Mint condition!!!...now there's a pun if ever there was one. Larry" No blood transfusions!" Graham??!! Even most Prince fans hope he gets adbucted by aliens, how did P think any sober festival go-er would be interested in paying for this second rate crap?

And speaking of "paying"- the ticket prices were shamefully high for such a poor show.

The album? Interesting, if inoffensive,pop-funk or sad offer from genius of yesteryear...answers on a postcard purleese!!!

No merchandise.! Just pay the high prices and then fuck off home after the umpteenth version of Purple Rain.

Crap covers. Oh yeah! He doesn't have enough classics in his rep to fill a couple of hours!!!

Sad lack of interest. Even here on the org the lack of excitement ( apart from some frogs and a couple of Belgians) was deafening.

M'Lud! I am not a Prince hater! But it's a sad day when you tell people that one of your favourite artists is Prince and they giggle nervously.

I rest my case. :

I seriously want to know if you suffer from sort of mental disorder. You did not attend these shows but you have decided it is the worst tour that P has ever done What is this based on? Your ESP abilities. I honestly think that some of you cannot be pleased and you need to move on to other artist. All of the reviews of the shows that I read on this board and in the media were good to excellent. I know that some of you haters do not believe anything that actual fans have to say but how about the mainstream media which has no reason to sing P’s praises. What about the promoters who still pay big bucks to get Prince on these rock fest. Are all of those people delusional fans as well? Please take your meds and go find another artist.

I agree with this post. AWEFUL and DISASTROUS tour. I think its the band. There is nothing withing this band to excite him. They are boring, emotionless and have no personality. He was at his best when he had people around him that pushed him and were just as musically talented as him. All of his bands up through 96 were like that and he feeded off of them. Since then its been shakey. The 2000-2004 band was interesting and seemed to revive him but in between 97-2000 and since 2004 they have sucked and it seems to carry over to him on cd and live. Unfortunately I thinkn we are stuck with these people as he has to have JW band members now. It is indeed a painfall fall of Prince for us fans

This band has shined at times, but IMO this band is in the bottom 2 along with the 1996-2000 line-up. I 1st noticed it during the opening drum solo for "Shhh" that it's either the kit she's playing or the drummer. I know I may hear it for this post, but this band is holding him back. I watched the Berlin show when it was posted & only got through to part 8 before I became bored with the performance!

this sucker eireboy34 tries in every 2nd thread to convince others, that he ate the knowledge by spoon and is the only one, that can judge the recent tour without ever having been there. I don't read any of his threads anymore - they are anoying me so much, i could fall asleep at a second.

everybody answers him exact the same, that the tour is great, the music is fantastic and p is in best shape - but this mf still thinks, he is right.

i suggested him to leave this forum and make some positive out of his frustration, but he must be so depressed - he still wants to anoy us with the shi... that comes out of his mouth (or fingers).

OK, if this wasn't his most disastrous tour, which was???

The Gold Experience tour was probably his worst. Shows were few and undersold. He had built this elaborate stage set but had to dump it during the tour cause he couldn't afford to transport it. The tour lost staff, too. By the end of it Prince had to do his own sound. Pretty crazy . That HAS to have been the worst Prince tour.

Don't see why that makes it his "worst tour" - the music and performances were fantastic. And the stage was really cool too. The UK shows weren't poorly sold. And, also, Prince was doing his own sound for the whole tour! It was something he was experimenting with (not a great move, I have to say) and would disappear in to that golden tower to tweak the sound. It didn't seem to have a negative impact on the sound quality but, really, you need someone at front of house to address what the audience is hearing. That is nigh on impossible from the stage.

Which shows didn't have the full stage then? I wasn't aware of him having to dump it. It is possible that some venues were just not able to accomodate it, or that costs were too prohibitive (him not being able to afford it is unlikely - it not making financial sense is a bit different).

ok, then I would like to know why a record is of ANY influence to this tour? All I know is that I actually SAW one show and seriously consider it to be the best regular show I've ever seen, INCLUDING Lovesexy (even though there was no merchandise and all that secundairy tuff). Admittedly this WAS Vienna, the show with the highest approval rate of all of them
