SEXIST? The 21 Nights SATISFIED SPIEL.

I know he's joking, but a sexist joke is still sexist:

"And if you want to talk to me, wait for the commercials" or whatever he says (altho I do know what he means lol )

"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

Telling a woman when she can talk and when not to isn't sexist?

"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

its no secret prince is sexist

he relegated women to a particular type of role in his life very early on in his career

all they're pretty much good for is employing, fucking, cooking, dressing up and dragging them to fashion parades and making prince look good

i hope i'm wrong about that though

i'd like to see or hear about what other ways prince has promoted women which dont include them being his servants

it wouldnt surprise me if the lyric is sexist.

this too shall pass

What if you're at a movie theater and a woman decides to talk throughout the film. Would asking her to quiet down be sexist?

Nah... but the context was he's listing "rules at my house" - these are RULES he's setting down. The very idea of setting rules for a woman to obey in order to be in your house sounds warped at least and fairly sexist to me...

That stupid "theocratic order" is sexistic and very offensive.

Oh, yeah. THAT for sure. The whole Rainbow Children album was a bunch of sexist crap. But I don't think asking someone not to talk over a program you're watching is sexist.

Wasn't the rainbow children album an doxology to Jehova?

So id does not surprise me to be sexist.

And I think the same way. To ask someone not to talk over a program is not sexist.

I don't like that myself!

Oh, please. I have never met a man in my entire life who enjoyed being babbled at while the game is on. rolleyes

It isn't any more sexist than my wanting to be left alone during Project Runway.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Nah... but the context was he's listing "rules at my house" - these are RULES he's setting down. The very idea of setting rules for a woman to obey in order to be in your house sounds warped at least and fairly sexist to me...

that's not sexist, it is being controlling. big difference between the two, even if they can overlap.

what if he said she has to take her shoes off when entering the house or not touch his prized piano? those are rules, and thus would be sexist.

or more simply, the criteria you are stating is just stupid. rules are part of life and aren't indicators of sexism, racism, or any prejudism by themselves as you are attempting to claim.

this message brought to you by logic.

...That being said, Prince is sexist and it's prit-tee well-known he is. Context is everything.

Well, I guess I lose (or the intelligent, liberal minority at the org has disappeared...). That whole "rules" section seemed a bit whack and with hints of sexism, but the last one more so than the others.

Ah well, I guess I'll plead "Spinal Tap":

"Sexist? A woman on all fours attached to a dog leash? Yeah, it's very sexy"

"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

I think it was only meant tongue in cheek way and not to be taken literally !!! P does have a sense of humour you know and as much as he might be slightly sexists (like most guys) I think he can laugh at himself too !!!

PS I am a woman and it don't bother me none
