During the Dirty Mind era he wore what I would classify as a dirty perm because it usually looked oily and over-processed but it was not a jherri curl.

Well you could help this one by posting some pics of Prince's beautiful hair from back in the day. I'm starting to miss it.

You know I always thought Prince had a Jheri curl during the 1999/Purple Rain days but after seeing the responses, I see I was wrong. You learn something new everyday!

I always thought that it was a curl because it looked drippy like one at times. However, it could have very well been a relaxer that was rodded with small rods. Relaxers are different from Perms (although people use the term interchangably). Who's to really say. In any event, I thought it looked nice on him for the time that he wore it.

I don't think MJ's dripped either, I've never known of him having activator juice (though I can believe Marlon, Jermaine and Randy did ). Then again who knows?

Not related but none of my brothers, cousins or even my dad had Jheri Curls. All of them had their hair REAL short.

My dad didn't even have an Afro lol
