I really don't get the Lotusflow3r criticism

Come on, Lotusflow3r is a solid, if not perfect album! I honestly think it's up there with the compulsary 80's greats. Songs like Dreamer, $, Feel good Feel Better... they're Prince at his best. The lbum is much better planned and tracked then the trilogy before hand, it really feels like a true collection of songs instead 12 tracks randomly thrown together. I really think it's a shame it dissapeared so quick, it never gets the praise it deserves

And don't forget it's got Colonized Mind on it... my favorite Prince song.

What do people not like about it??

Agreed - it's up there with some of his strongest work. I've been listening to since it was released.

i think if it had Chocolate Box as the first single (that style is in with folk like GaGa and others) and a tour like The Rainbow Children had, you know, small legs in each continent which is not too demanding, it would of had the staying power of musicology.

there sure seem to be alot more lotus album haters now 20ten is here

That's definetely interesting in hindsight, however to be fair, there are are not doubt thousands of tracks with that 3 chord progression.

Well, I ain't gonna shove it down anyone's throat, but the similarities are way more than a simple chord progression.

Fair enough, point taken. Don't necessarily disagree. Just think there's enough different for both tracks to exist independently.

Good stuff. His best album of the decade.

I agree, it's a great album and is definitely his best since the Gold Experience. I know they say that about all of them since then, but in the case of LF, it's true. A lot of us have been waiting for him to put out a great, solid album for a long time. Well, he did with LF and if that's not good enough, then I would suggest it's probably time to give up on Prince. LF is the closest we're ever going to get to a true masterpiece from him again. That's the one that reaffirmed for me that he could still live up to my expectations. Very happy with it.

Lotusflow3r is one of the best albums he's ever done, well the single disc anyway. I've been listening to it regularly since its release and I'll happily put it up there with Purple Rain, The Gold Experience and The Rainbow Children.

The more I listen to the new album the more I see the big flaws in Lotus. The songwriting just aint there, beyond $ and a few others.

Lotus is a middling 3 star record at best.

What does liking Colonized Mind have to do with liking 20ten more?

Sticky Like Glue is right up there with Kiss--yea, I said it. Colonized Mind is right up there with Planet Earth or I Like It There.

Dreamer is a Henrix rip off--pure crap.

Boom is good but it aint no Future Soul Song.

No Candy 4 U can't wash Everybody Loves Me's crotch.

20ten is getting rave reviews.

Damn and that was just about the only track on the entire album worth a damn! Lyrical similarities, solo similarites... why am I not surprised?

It's dry, uninspired, and sounds like a bunch of demos. Horrible set. Bria's pile of lady shit disk sounds like an extended play. Put it on, walk out of the room, come back later, and it's the same damn song. B O R I N G.

What is so exciting about "Valentina" or "$" or "77 Beverly Park" or his mumbled ramling during "Wall of Berlin" or "Boom" or whatever? It's trite and vapid nonsense. I should have waited for the $4.99 price to snag that one.

People will always find something to criticize... especially people who don't have any talent or abilities of their own and who merely live vicariously through celebrities and their experiences. They want and expect everyone else to be perfect so they don't have to...

Those who have their own crafts which they work at routinely tend to know what it means to appreciate the efforts of others and also realize that no one's gonna be impeccable 100% of the time.

Change it one more time..

I don`t get it either but we all have different tastes. Its the same reason I don`t understand why folks like FBM or the 1st two trax on MPLSound. There is no way that we`ll all like everything P creates... it just isn`t possible. I think LF is a fantastic album as well as his newest. I also think Lovesexy & Parade are overrated albums on the org but it seems from Prince there`s a song for everyone. He covers a lot of diff genres so not everyone is gonna be pleased w/ what he`s doing @ all times.

People like me? Oh, you mean people who don't eat up everything Prince serves as perfection? You mean people like me that recognize when Prince is really making great music, or even good music, and when he's on auto-pilot? Yeah, people like me.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. If you'd have read any of my posts, you'd know I'm as much a fan of the 90's stuff as I am the 80's, and even like some stuff in the 00's.

People like you should stfu until you know what you're talking about. no no no!

See, the difference is that I attacked the music. You attacked me. That speaks volumes more than Prince could ever record.

I love Lotusflow3r (single disc). I think it's great and listen to it quite regularly. It's got a theme and is well thought out. Imo. And as a fan of P's instrumentals those on Lotus are nice. Great guitar oriented rock album that most of us have been asking for. MPlSound is a diff story. I like about half the album. And 20ten is a nice contrast to the rock flavored Lotusflow3r. And remember folks this is just my opinion. I aint gonna dog anybody that doesn't agree. I will simply respectively agree to disagree. cool

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
