I just listened to the origin of Ballad Of Dorthy Parker-..Sly's "Family Affair"

I just listend to the orignator of Ballad Of Dorothy Parker. Sly Stones Family Affair. They both use the same lazy sing song voice. Princes rhoades is just in a different key and he added drums to the front. Sly does a scratchy "haw how" scream and Prince does a "wee--lll" scream. Princes female band singing background mirrors Slys'both singing the title of the songs etc. The have similar geetar near the end, that wah wah sound. Most importanlty, they both have that same rubbery bounce music that is the structure of the whole tune. They both have a wait before starting full on (the same amount of measures before starting completely and before singing). Played back to back they are both singing at the same time on the same track ( Sly takes a break though). Dot Parkers ending 30 seconds meshes damn near seamlessly with Family Affairs opening. DP is like Family Affairs child. The spit and image. I have always heard Family Affair when I listen to Dorothy parker.

Isnt it a sample from "Family Affair" that is repeated endlessly thru-out "Why Should I Do That...When I Can do This?"

I think Prince got the inspiration for Camille from Sly's vocals on "If you want me to stay".

So does George Clinton and Jimi Hendrix at times.

You do realize that that's typical song structure that can be found in a million songs, right?

Played back to back they are both singing at the same time on the same track ( Sly takes a break though). Dot Parkers ending 30 seconds meshes damn near seamlessly with Family Affairs opening. headache

Oh yeah, here's another: both songs are song #4 on their respective albums! omg Cool!

lol

I think he got it from one of the myriad of PFunk distorted voices.

Thanks for insinuating that I know nothing about any music or music technique previous to Prince.

Lighten up, Bruce. That wasn't the insinuation at all. The insinuation is the same one someone else posted.

Yes, meaning it was on purpose, so there's no reason to get upset. Ya see.

Im not upset..it's me ..Im inquiring why one would say certain things because I didn't go into complete detail about all music and other musicians

No detail was needed, amigo. But like whoever it was above that said they didn't hear the similarities, I don't hear the patterns either. Never-me-mind. What I hear isn't important. Carry on, bruddahman.

Don't look at me. I don't rate threads, period. I pretty much think those things are useless.
