Peach: Celebration Performance

Is there anybody else out there thinking this is one of
the coolest performances ever of this particular song?

Ok, the 1993-1995 performances were ferocious and rockhard
but this is a whole 'nother kind of thing.

He's re-done it and put the focus on the funk instead of
on the rock element. And that's cool.

But what really gets me going is that intro. What the fck
is that? Sound like "Others Here With Us" meets "Wiz of Oz".

And what about Renato's little tu-tu-dum "tweek" laced
through it?

I know that when the hook rolls in it sounds a bit messy
as if the whole song is rattling and about to fall apart
but it pickes itself up again and becomes thrice as funky
for the second verse.

I like the personal talk about what his father said to him
etc.

Shame about the "Bible is the only book I read" part to.

I wholeheartedly agree. I especially like Renato's addition.

The only new version I know of is on the ONA Aftershow disk, and I don't like it. I'd take the old rockhard version of it anyday over the newly officialy released one.

I can't comment on the celebration performance though.

I love the Celebration version, but the 93-95 versions are unbeatable. One in particular is probably my favorite Prince live moment ever.

I know what you're saying. The aftershow disc version is
not really "peach" anymore. I don't know. I guess it's a
cool tune but it's not a good performance of "peach".

The celebration performance was much more true to the old
peach, but with a new funky vibe and still some very cool
guitar solos.

Could you possibly be talking about one of the Glam Slam
performances?

There's one -I never remember which date- that is my fav
as well. It's the one that's loud as hell and about 2/3
trough Prince does this "ooohhhwiii - sing it!"
which he screams so hard that his voice almost breaks on
the "sing it!" part.

The other one is also very cool, and starts off with P
saying "La, you upheld your reputation with me" and has
two nasty loud guitar solos in it. It's the one where he
goes "Idon'tknowwhatI'lldobutIcanTellyouThatI'llkafasdhf"
the last part of which is inaudible because he seems to
have an orgasm on stage

It has the "ooohhhwiii- sing it!" part but it is from a video. Mayte stage dives near the end.

I like that one as well! It is mostly just him with little embellishments.

I think that's the video version I love so much! Does Mayte stage dive in it?

I don't remember the celebration version of Peach and I don't have the bootleg, but I like the Peach on the Aftershow ONA, but you're right, it's not like Peach.
