LotusFlow3r set on sale at Target for 99 cents I don't know if this has been posted already, but I was just at Target and they have the LotusFlow3r 3CD set on sale for 99 cents. The one I went to had a lot in stock still.
I thought $4.99 was low when I saw it a few months ago, but 99 CENTS? Sad, especially considering that LotusFlow3r (the single disc) is one of my favorites in a long time. MPLSound, I could take about 1/2 of. Elixer, not my thing.
So, anyone wanting to stock up - check it out.

That is an insane price. I would be buying 2 or 3 copies at that price.
Lotus (3 disc set) ranges from £15-35 in the UK.

Could buy and sell it yourself for a little profit. That is sad though. Has this happened with other artists they've promoted? "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..." |

I skipped this bad boy when it was released because me and P were going thru it. He's like my boyfriend. I hate him then I love him then I hate him again. This was one of my I hate you moments. I love him again now tho, so I'm gonna check Target this weekend. Thanks for the heads up. Prince esta muerto...

Woah.
Damn. Buying out Target's supply might not be such a bad idea if there was a reasonable way to ship them overseas. |

99 cents? Damn, I'd better go to Target tomorrow. I need to stock up on some coasters (actually, I do like Lotus and MPLS). |

Yes, you should buy out Target's entire supply and sell it at a mark-up. You'll have absolutely no problem unloading the complete stock. I see no flaws whatsoever in this get-rich-quick scheme. |

NO I think you should since you think this is my "get-rich quick scheme" since you have seen into my plans.
I said "if there was a resonable way to ship them overseas" it'd be great to buy something for a dollar and sell it for 20x. However, to my knowledge " a reasonable" price doesn't exist, plus advertising, and no guarantee of sales.
So, genius go ahead and do it yourself mindreader. |

That has to be a local store doing that, because I live near a Target and none of their LotusFlow3r cd's are marked that low. Usually if it is company wide, they all will be at the lower price. This must be a one store deal. |

When Lotus reached the UK on import (about a week after the US release) i managed to buy one in a well known music chain in my home city for £13. About two or three weeks later it had shot up to £30. Seems crazy.
Now prices fluctuate between the £15-35 mark, and that is in the same store!
We regularly see early Warners Prince albums for £3-5 in the UK, even SOTT is £5. And like the US, 21 Nights can be had, still sealed for £5. But 99c? For a three disc set has to be bargain of the year.

I think that shipping cd's overseas would not cost you much at all. And if you were to use ebay for instance, copies of Lotus (at least in the UK) sell for £10-15 (still sealed) quite regularly online.
So even with shipping overseas and a small fee to sell on ebay this would still make you a few dollars profit.
Selling a copy of Lotus for £10 (UK) would net you $15.

It is a shame you had to pay so much for 20TEN, but my point was that the same record store can sell the same cd for £13 one week and then charge £30 the next week.

If 20TEN or any other Prince album was released in countries other than the UK, i would have been willing to pay £20 for it. If Lotus was on import in the UK for £30 and £30 only, i still would have bought it.
Maybe one day we can get back to a worldwide release of a Prince album, it would make things a little easier.

Dang. For a buck I think I'll actually cruise by the local Target tomorrow and grab one (if they have 'em). I don't actually own a physical copy yet. I'll finally have Crimson & Clover. |

The one I'm speaking of is Troy, Michigan -- Maple(15 Mile) and Coolidge -- if anyone is familiar. This was Tuesday night. If they have a price-matching policy, you could reference this store.
I already bought 2 copies at 11.98 originally, so I didn't buy any more. Not interested in selling them online, but it's a good idea. |
