PARIS (Reuters Life!) – Enigmatic funk-rocker Prince, whose hits include Purple Rain, 1999 and Gett Off, is setting his sights on a place in France.
"I want to live in France," the 52-year old artist told newspaper Le Parisien in an interview published Thursday.
The prolific artist, who once changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol, is currently based at his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota in the U.S., but he told the paper that was more of a business base.
Prince, who will stage two concerts in France this summer, has made no secret of his love for the country, where he regularly plays to packed venues. Just last week, he made an impromptu appearance alongside Stevie Wonder at a concert in Paris.
"If Stevie's playing and he knows I'm not far away, he always calls me up to invite me along," the singer, producer, musician and lyricist said at the Roskilde music festival in Denmark. Prince's next album entitled '20ten', to be distributed through newspapers in Europe, will reflect a personal diary of the year, he said.
"I'm writing a lot at the moment ... I'm going through a very creative phase," Prince said. His harmonica player also told the Paris daily that Prince loved French culture and was a big fan of actress Marion Cotillard and the film "La Vie en Rose," in which she played singer Edith Piaf. Didn't Prince buy an apartment in France during the Cherry Moon days? I think France suits him well.

My neighbour's appartment is for sale - but then in Amsterdam. I love Prince and chocolate - in that order

He doesn't like French food. What will eat? I guess he'll be fine since he looks like he doesn't eat much anyway. A good lamp is the best police. *Ralph Waldo Emerson

Prince moved into the Beach Regency Hotel in Nice, which is where he stayed for the duration of the shooting on Cherry Moon. He stayed in the penthouse suite which had a wraparound balcony, with views of the Mediterranean Sea to the front, and the hills of St. Paul De Vence to the rear.

He wants to live whatever place he's in at the time of interview. It's like the interview equivalent of a city shoutout at a concert, get the natives on side.

Maybe he's just gonna move to Europe for awhile, Madge did it ? Eye Was Born & Raised On The Same Plantation In The United States Of The Red, White And Blue Eye Never Knew That Eye Was Different Til Dr. King Was On The Balcony

My thought exactly. | |

The year was hardly even to the halfway mark by the time Prince would've assembled and prepared this album for release -- the first few months of 2010 must have really been jam-packed with interesting experiences for him.

Didn't he do exactly that during the Musicology era? Now he's back full time in Minneapolis?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No, as usual you have no idea what you are talking about Prince has said numerous times he would like to move to France and he use to have a house/apartment in Paris. We do not know if he will ever move to Europe but he is getting older so maybe he is looking for a retirement place.

Duh!!! Frenchbread!!!! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
