PRINCE AND BABYFACE TO PRODUCE... The day after the BET awards aired, I read an article on yahoo regarding the show...it mentioned El Debarg & and his return from rockbottom/ drug addiction & the comeback he is attempting. It refers to Prince & Babyface as co-producers on El's upcoming album. Was wondering if anyone else read the article or have any other source of this piece of info?

These are the only producers listed as contributers to El Debarge's new cd: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Babyface, Mike City, Michael Angelo, Mishka, the Avila Brothers and Ron Fair are among those who have contributed to DeBarge's "Second Chance". Love God and I shall 4ever Love u

Cool, thnx...trying to find that article and link it...have my doubt of its credibility anyway...unless he did assist but chose to be uncredited/listed, he's known to have done that in the past with others he gave a hand to. But i highly doubt it.

Did you try El's site itself? http://www.eldebargemusic.com/blog/ The producers are listed there. Always go to the source first. I never fully trust articles over the artist's site (most times).

Babyface would be a great match (one of many) to work with El. Styles are similar, and Babyface could pull something out for him that'd be perfect for El's higher range.
I like that Jam & Lewis are on board.
My fear is that, even with some of these guys on the production team, that El is going to get muddled into the bland, dry, and thinly produced R&B of the past 10+ years. Lionel Richie, as great as he is, had his last couple of albums go that route, and it was very unattractive on them.
Sometimes with artists that have been around a while, and make a comeback of sorts, need to not quite stick to their old, and familiar-to-fans, sound, but there needs to be some sort of familiarity in there that attracts old fans back again. There can be a good balance of old and new (which I've mentioned the new album from The Family/fDeluxe having), so something about it feels like "Oh yeah, that's why I love this guy", but also something that says, "Oh shit, I wasn't expecting THAT!"
At least for the first "comeback" album from someone who's been away a long time, like El, or Lionel, or whoever.
Let's just hope fucking will.i.am and Usher stay the fuck away from it.
You know who'd be good with El on a song? D'ANGELO! That's right, I said it.
