Prince and Wendy:: The "Reflection" Performance This performance on the Tavis Smiley show just might go down as my all-time favorite.
The acoustic guitar fits this song so well. Prince sang it flawlessly and both of them never missed a note.
Wendy's facial expressions were great too. That sounds strange to say, but it's true!
Who else wants to show some love for this beautiful moment? Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

Fully concur, this performance was just special. The way wendy was looking at him was priceless. A beautiful personal moment that was shared with us.

The performance is a reflection of what went before. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I replaced the Musicology album version with the audio from the Tavis performance of "REFLECTION" ... musical candy. If U came 2 get your 'Purple Rain' on...U'RE IN THE WRONG HOUSE!!!!!!

From a songwriting point of view, this song is one of the few in the 2000's that screams "inspired and heartfelt" to me, and this live performance only solidified that opinion (although the recording and arrangement of the studio version is HORRIBLE to me). [Edited 6/27/10 11:54am]

Wendy looks tense, as if she had difficulties to follow the song's chords. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Actually that look reminds me of when he kissed her on the cheek in Purple Rain
From her comments on that Reflections performance she was actually reflecting herself and was in a state of admiration. She said something 2 the affect of 'he's still very beautiful' etc etc
U see that look in just about every performance with them 2gether since the start

2 sevens together,
like time, indefinite,
try to catch the glass before it falls,
without a frown,
can you turn up the stereo?
I wanna play you this old song,
it's about love,
can I do that?
Did we remember to water the plants today?
I forgot to look up at the moon
because I was too busy, yes,
I was too busy,
too busy looking at you,
oh, baby, still,
it's nice to know that, uh,
when bodies wear out,
we can get another,
what does that one thing have to do with the other one?
I don't know,
i was just thinking about my mother,
you know what?
Turn the stereo back down,
ain't nothing worse than an old, worn-out love song,
do you like my hair this way?
Remember all the way back in the day
when we would compare whose afro was the roundest?
Mirrored tiles above the bed,
fishnets and posters all over the walls,
oh, yeah,
sometimes I just wanna go out,
you know what I mean,
playing my guitar,
just watch all the cars go by

It's a fondness only shared when one has pulled the underarm hair of another. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Glad to see I'm not the only one admiring this song.
It's the kind of track that makes me believe he hasn't lost everything. Even the studio version, while a bit lacking in comparison, is still quite nice.
Plus, the *lyrics* to this song are on point. Usually Prince is horrible in that department, but not here...
Just great. Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

At the 07/07/07 concert when the first chords of Purple Rain were being played and the spotlight came on and it was on Wendy, I about lost it. I had been waiting for 22 years for that moment! I love them together, playing off each other. TRUE BLUE
