I am glad to see any tribute to Prince anytime. At BET, everyone wanted to sing Purple Rain (Stevie, Patti, and that punk I never heard of until that night who wrecked it). I suppose it is the song that most people identify with Prince - along with other 80s hits like Corvette, 1999, and Doves. I understand people will always remember the purple heyday more than anything else but for once I would like to see someone reach in and get one of the hits from the 90s and 2000's. OK, Latifah did some silly reference to Sexy MF but that doesnt count - and it still old as hell. How about some chart toppers (yes, Prince has some after the 80s) like Beautiful Girl in the World, Cream, Dolphin (a masterpiece that stands with any of his greatest work), I Hate U, Call My Name (didnt that get him a Grammy?), Te Amo Corozan (ok, a bit of a stretch but has there been a prettier piece written since?), Black Sweat (half the group's there had ripped off that techno Mpls sound to start their careers ie Black Eyed Peas).

It would have been nice if they had not only perform more recent or close to recent songs but if they had featured them too along with the old songs. I get tired of seeing the same old shit with Prince, yeah I know its what others know but damn. How many folks knew of "If I Was Your Girlfriend"? Prince is more than the fucking 80's and it would have been nice to have seen that represented. My rant is done for now.
