Ok I know there is a 26 page thread on this already and don't fee like reading it all but can anyone tell me how many times do they show Prince at the award show? I'm gonna watch the encore and don't feel like watching 3 hours just to see 5 minutes of Prince.

Did Alicia Keys slip "fuck" past the censors at BET during her performance of "Adore"? Right when she climbs up on the piano, Prince leans in ,I'm assuming, 2 see if she'll say it and it sounds like she does when she says "...they know U are fix. I know that U know I ain't cheating baby. They know this is serious, I don't fuck with U 4 kicks!" Did anyone else catch this?

Yeah. From the looks shown of Prince's face throughout the entire thing, he appeared as if he was thinking, "The heck?" like he didn't approve of what she was doing. And then there was a point during Alicia's singing where she somehow hit a terrible note, and the camera switched to him, and he looked like he wanted to start laughing at her. The only time he seemed like "Wow, this is nice," was when Esperanza was playing and he was nodding his head with his eyes closed. Like I said a few pages ago, she did the best performance, no question.

Sadly, this was not the greatest tribute set possible. He made excellent choices it seemed (I thought Janelle and Alicia would be fantastic since they have studied Prince), but to only end up having 1 out of 4 of them represent well is unfortunate.

Seems like most of us have a difference of opinion on who represented the best. Because i thought that Esperanza's performance was the weakest. She was vocally weak, and her perfomance was uneventful. Heck she didn't even look like she was proud of her performance. I thought Alica's was the strongest followed by Janelle. To each his own again.

Prince is a tough person to really "read" as far as what artists he approves of or doesnt. Everyone is projecting their thoughts onto the few smiles and solomn stares that we saw by Prince. Nobody really knows what the hell he was really thinking.

His expressions were not tough to read. He wasn't as blatant as Shelby (LOL), but his reactions were visible onscreen, lol.

When did Esperanza look like she wasn't proud of her performance? I saw when Janelle looked like that (during the afterparty show), but I must have missed Esperanza's look of self-disappointment 'cause all I saw her do was happily smile afterward. I don't usually like weak voices either, but I figured she sang soft like that because of the way the song was originally recorded with that light Camille voice. And instead of trying to unsuccessfully mimic Prince's former hyperactivity onstage like Alicia and Janelle did, she just stood there and played that difficult bass, similar to how he has cooly sung and played guitars without dancing. I don't see how that was uneventful. It was a smart decision in my opinion, lol.

Sure did. I recorded it. I don't think for a minuet they thought she would say it. I notice Prince was jamming right on through and he sure heard it. Alicia like Prince can push the envelop like no other.

Agreed.... she sang and preformed the song like Prince recorded it...cool and laid back...but to the heart...that's why we are still moved by it today ...elegant, sexy and quirky ....loved his original

and really appreciated her version..remember he choose her..uninteresting or uneventful ..only in a alternative universe

the tributes where amazing, I liked some more than others but they where performed from an honest place ,so good on all of them! lool Prince looked happy and sexy.

Now that I'ved watched this tribute for the fourth time. Here's my

Janelle reminds me of Anita Baker (her face; sans the "He Who Kills" chompers).

Her performance: Delibrate or not, it reminded me of Prince's Punk roots. Odd but very electric.

Love her pompadour and exit. She gave a nod to James Brown's dancing.

Esperanza's performance was the best of the four, imo. That was a hot looking bass.

Only thing (petty)...she should fix that gap. A missing tooth took something away

from her beauty.

Alicia was off. Like she's catching a cold. Maybe a different song would've sounded better.

In being fair, 'cause she is a talented artist. Few singers can make a Prince song sound as great

(I'm talking about his gems.) as he. That's why I admire his talent.

Patti's butt dance had me laughing. I saw those high heels and said to myself "She can hurt someone,

if she throws those spikes." Shortly thereafter...they were airbourne. Shelby smelt tha shoe...

This was more like five bucks worth...

I believe Alicia Keys is secretly in love with Prince. Seriously last interview she had always says that she wants to work with Prince or something. I think it was an Oprah, where she called out on Prince and said she wanted to work with him.

Did anyone notice that at the beginning of janelle performance the band played a snippet of "Girl" and I was like ok, but they broke into let's go crazy. It would have been great if they would have played "girl".
