apparently. Think it was the website dude himself that let it slip on this very forum.

npgmc had thousands, but I guess it was a case of 4th time bitten, 5th time shy for most sane fans. If he were to start up another content-less subscription site, I reckon he'd only get about 8 subscribers. Most of which you can name as they'll probably jump to his defense as usual. smile

Laura the new Prince CD release has gotten so predictable that it's funny to watch.

TGE was dogged for about 10 years and then it gained "classic" status. Hell Lovesexy was dogged until Diamond and Pearls came out.

My theory is that when the "new" Prince music is not played on MTV,BET, radio ,ect then people think or is programmed to think the music sucks. Then they will spend the next several months complaining about Prince and his dead creativity, lack of artistic direction, needing Lisa and Wendy, needing a producer, ect, ect, ect.

It's been the same for every release and if you don't believe it go to the Org. archives and look them up.

You haven't said anything but the truth. I've been here for 11 years and it's the same old story year after year. In fact, the org is predictable in that way that you will see the SAME PEOPLE ranting and raving and then before you know it, they'll love it or find "appreciation" in the now "old" work. It's the neverending story around here. rolleyes

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

As a true Prince fan who doesn't bitch about everything he does now, or the last few years, I don't particulary care how I get the new music.. I just want to get it. Be it through magazine, bag of Dorito's, pack of toilet paper... just get it to me! LOL.

When the day comes that I find myself not liking what an artist does anymore, that shall be the day that I move on from a place that is built for his fans. cool

Thank you! highfive I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. How others in here do it, I have no idea. Strange shit to me.

I can't for the life of my remember where I read it (most likely it was here on the org a year or two ago, but it may have also been a magazine article), but someone wrote an excellent piece/post about just this very thing (it wasn't you was it?!?) Essentially breaking down the artistic decline of musicians in general when they just don't need to try any more - it's the drive to become succesful that fuels the fire to push and forge forwards. When that is attained, and luxuries and comforts become commonplace, that fires either dims or in some cases gets extinguished entirely.

I'm not saying this is the case with Prince, but that fire isn't raging like it did time upon a once. Now it is merely just a comforting warm glow - the remanants of what came before. I think his BET speech kinda touched upon that he's ok with that and where he is. In that respect at least - good for him.

If anyone knows about the article or post I'm talking about and can find it, kudos to you. The more I think about it, the more I think it may have been a featured quote on the homepage - whoever wrote it....bang on the money.

That couldn't have been me. lol

I agree with the theory about drive and creativity going hand-in-hand as well as fame and fortune becoming an inspirational liability to the artist. I guess we're actually quite lucky that Prince's rise and decline was extended over a large canon of work. So many great musical acts that wait years between albums lose their mojo during a similar timeline, but release far less material. Prince, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bowie - all churned out great album after great album, but recorded and released them while the iron was hot. The quality arc seems to be the same for all the heavy hitters in music, but the quantity varies.

Bowie lost it for a good decade, but pretty much everything since Earthling has gotten great reviews... he just doesn't get hardly any radio play anymore for new material.

Change it one more time..

I like what I hear so far from the snippet. Is there going to be a release in the US or do we need to make arrangements with our UK friends? smile The album art is also really well done. Anyone know who is behind it?

Probably.

Wasn't it posted that WB will do stuff for the non-newspaper areas?

And yes, of course we will buy multiple newspapers so we can trade for your firstborn.

There are way too many stickies in Music and More for 20Ten. It is a disorganized jumbled mess and people are posting so many dupe threads because there are too many stickies to look in to see if a post has been made.

I suggest that someone consolidate the threads into one, two, or three 20TEN threads covering various topics, such as one for the release methods( all of them in one thread ) , one for magazine covers/interviews, and one for reviews of the album.

As it currently stands, it is sloppy and poorly thought out.

And you think it's a good idea posting the same stupid message in all of them?
So everyone checking the threads for new posts have to read your shit over and over?

Including one about the availabilitY of Ebony mag in Uk?

Not cool.

GOLD was a classic from the start.

The real fans knew the songs ver early.

The casual fans didn't connect so much.

How come you think the album was hated?

I love the Gold album from jump and I still love the album.

It should have spawned several hits but the album was blacklisted by WB and Prince stopped promoting the album.

Back when the Org came online the Gold album caught the fury of most posters here as an example of how lazy Prince was and the same critical nonsense that is posted here now.

Yeah, Chaos And DIsorder gets more praise than ever now and days (even has a "remaster" confuse ) and I had always thought that album was terrible and back in the nineties it was the worst thing since The Flow was placed on an album listing. Prince only "gets better with time" I believe to fans. Michael Jacksons "Invincible" will always stay the same even after death..mediocre..however I believe we will all find Rainbow Children, 3121 & Lotus Flow3r crowning acievements in the last 10 years.

I agree with you 100%. When I was a kid in the 80's and my relatives had gotten me ATWIAD, Parade, SOTT and Lovesexy, I thought those were some strange ass albums. If it wasn't for the hit songs on them, I might've stopped listening to them after a couple of spins but I liked the hit songs on them so much that I kept playing them till the next album or an album of an artist I was into came out. More than 10 years later for all 4 of those albums, I brought those albums again as CD's and I finally "got it" and I saw how great they are. It will happen with fans here for the CD's you listed in the future, you'll see. nod

20Ten stickies being revised...

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
