If he's making some kind of one off deal like he's done with other majors and that's all he's doing it will be the most pathetic thing he's ever done. Crawling back to the master disbelief If he's working out some deal then that could be a good thing. Hopefully there will be remasters or ownership of material, if not he's the biggest sellout on the planet! lol

After all the Speculating that goes on around here you would think people would (should) have learned their lesson by now. For example. Ebony. And the list goes on. Let's just wait and see. Let's not resort to calling someone sellout, hypocrite etc.

Peace.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

The WB years is where his money is. The back catalog. The good stuff. The 80's stuff. So if he is short on cash like in paying a promoter he owes millions to, that's where he should be. He should shower, come his hair, pop a mint in his mouth and head on over there bright and early wearing knee pads a fresh balm of chap-stick and lubricant.

Not so loud! Or he might throw a hissy-fit and instead of Remasters, we'll get 'No More Candy 4 U - Part 2'! shake

Here is my speculation.

I really believe someone reads here for him.

I think this struck a nerve.

Spinlight from another forum stated,

". . .All the while, in his house he lays dreaming of being a paragon of black enterprise as his back catalog rots in antiquity. A fresh, rejuvenated SOTT? Never. A deluxe edition of LoveSexy? Not on his watch. Without his superfluous and insipid remixes and remakes of his torch songs, Prince will have nothing to do with those albums..."

Does WB own Prince's unreleased material from the 80s and 90s?

whatever prince DIDN'T give to WB, HE OWNS. no matter where or when he recorded them.

Example: the crystal ball set.

i suggest that he apologizes to the fanbase FIRST.

THEN he can go back to WB and talk of deals and what-have-you.

he's putting the cart before the horse on this one.

I am VERY interested to see what becomes of all of this news. I have a good feeling that something good will happen from this but we have to wait and see.

If he is going back to WB to release a new CD, I don't see that as selling out at all. People have the right to change their minds about situations. Besides, how many of you in here keep on going on and on about how much you wish he would work with WB again? You might get your wish but who knows. Let's see how this ends up, hopefully something great will emerge.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Prince wouldn't personally meet with them unless it was for negotiations. All of the preliminary stuff would be done through his lawyer... unless he wanted to present them with an idea in person.

My guess:

Reissues of his stuff or another plea to get his WB material back in his possession, or maybe a combo of the two.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Also I need to ask. People often accuse Drfunkbeery as being some kind of Prince whore. Is he a genuine gossip columnist or does Prince feed him this stuff? (Am I being naive?) Because if Prince feeds the gossip then surely this is a business deal

I find Dr. FB is reliable.

Warner Brothers isn't going to tell Prince what kind of record to make, so there's no point of contention for him 'selling out' if he releases something under WB. It will be ironic if WB releases a new Prince disc, but nothing more. Prince needs to take some time to craft a good album, who releases it is ultimately irrelevant.

The best thing that could come from this would be remasters, obviously.

This is good news.

You all may think this is bullshit but I dreamed that Prince re-upped with WB and they remastered all of his old albums with the b-sides and he released a new album that had a white/purple color scheme.

I'm almost 100% certain that Prince was at the Warner Bros offices to loosen the caps on the salt shakers in the executive lunch room.

Well lets HOPE its this.

Prince has realized he will never get his way, he isnt going to ever own these masters outright, the time now is to play "the game", get with the label EVERYONE is doing deluxe Editions, open the vaults to WB in exchange for some ownership of them yourself, this could be very lucrative to both parties easily, im not saying reissuing all his albums will turn the industry around but i can guarantee that everyone into Prince "like that" that stil digs him, will be buying them without question.

Prince has that shit laying around collecting dust WHY NOT put warner to work for you, get them to "clean up" the tapes and issue them for you instead of letting an operator getting $8 an hour handle the shipping department and packaging for you, lets face it, you suck as a businessman.

Rhino records right now has been handling ALOT of reissues and even new cds by older artists, go this route!! The Cure "Disentagration" was done through Rhino, and the first two a-ha cds will get deluxe editions in July with tons of mixes bsides and demos, and this deal (including overseas) netted them 7 figures. PRINCE swallow your pride, we all know the deal about labels at this point and ownership, just milk it and get what you can, be a player.

Fingers crossed on this one. Prince really could/should take better care of his back catalog and legacy. Meaning, it should not be as hard as it is for new/younger fans to get find all of his past material. Prince has such a HUGE back catalog and it is astounding that an artist of his caliber hasn't seen fit to remaster/rerelease it.

One would think it would gain him a bunch of new fans, expose him to those who only see Purple Rain on the shelves, and really would earn him $$$$ in the long run. I have said it before, but many artists way less reknowned/important have taken much better care of their legacy. Lastly, all of us diehards would repurchase all of it because we need our favs to be in best sound quality possible. Not 198whatever CD audio quality.
