Prince version of 'The Sex Of It.'
Been playing this gem every day for the last week. What do you all think? Anyone heard the Kid Creole version?

Private Waters in the Great Divide is the album that Kid Creole released the song on - everyone should have heard this

Yes i know what album it is on and i do not care for it that much. My main question was what people think of Prince's version, have you heard it? Do you like the Kid Creole version?

I love Prince's studio version.
Not so much the rehearsal one, though that different 'classical' beginning is quite interesting.

I just saw the video on one of those channels a couple of weeks ago. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

prince's version was excellent, and i really thought he should have released it.
kid kreole's version was dull, lifeless and uninspired. kreole's version reminds me of hot summer in that respect.

I have the kid creole version, never heard P's version Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

Maybe, but the production was a damned site better on Kids Creole's version!

The rehearsal version from SOTT is fucking brilliant, and funky as hell.
Get on YouTube and find the Kid version. It's good.

Love it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Prince's and Kid Creole's version are both hot as well as Prince's rehersal version. Prince should think about dropping this joint himself. [Edited 6/16/10 5:35am] __________________________________________________

According to Eric Leeds, Prince intended to send it to Kid Creole & The Coconuts from the very minute he recorded it. Apparently, Leeds & Prince were both very impressed by August Darnell's music (and with some reason, it was one amazing band!).
4 some reason, though, it took Prince 3 years to send the song to Darnell
I like Kid Creole & The Coconuts' version better though they're almost 100% similar: the start of KC&TC's version is very dynamic and the whole song benefits from this fresh start. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

the Kid said he didn't want to do it but a combination of his record company insisting (in an attempt to get a hit) and not wanting to offend Prince he did in the end.
You'd never guess from the video, he seems well into it....
It's basically just one of Prince's versions with vocal overdubs right?
