NO....thank YOU!!!

Perhaps this is well known to many fans, but I never noticed it before. In the Sign O the Times movie, every time Prince screams "thankyou" to end the concert (which he does after a couple of songs), the crowd screams back, "No...thank YOU!!!"

Forgive me if this is already common knowledge. Just wanted to put it out there and point it out if it isn't.

It seems like this may have been one of the parts of the movie that was staged/overdubbed and if so, this is another one of those amusing Prince quirks - in this case scripting a large number of people to congratulate him, saying the same thing, all at once.

I thought it was pretty funny.

Does this appear on the original Rotterdam live recording?

I believe it is, in bootleg form. Anyone notice the crowd response in the movie before?...I doubt very much that I'm the first to notice.

Haven't noticed that before. Although it's not as noticable as the opening sequence where Prince walls along the footpath and stops short before the alley.

Look at the wall.

U can see the shadow of the camera crew and camera on a crane arm filming the sequence

(one for moviemistakes.com i think)

Wow 45 views and I'm the only one who's picked out this minor detail? I think that's pretty cool.

I've only seen it 3 times, too! The reason I think I discovered this is that I just made myself a CD of the soundtrack and had it up really loud and could hear the crowd very well. I doubt I would have noticed just watching it on TV.

You're not the only one to notice this. I've noticed it right after his performance of It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night. I figured it was something dubbed in later for his own amusement!

Yeah! Cool! I didn't think I would be the only one...

Yeah, for his own amusement is definitely how I see it, too! It appears at least twice in the movie.

Watched a couple of extracts last night.

After Beautiful Night and The Cross, it does sound like the crowd shout something, but I didn't reckon it was clear enough to pick out exactly what they said. On The Cross, it does sound kinda like 'No thank you'. If it is that, it does sound a bit 'overdubbed'.

But there must be someone on here who was at the show(s) in question. Can anyone settle it for sure?

yes I noticed it the first time I saw it . you can really heard it at the end of beautiful night. I thought that it was common knowledge that is why I never said anything.
