None of ya'll were bitching when "200 Balloons" sounded like "Batdance". Or when "Blue Limousine" was sounding like "17 Days" or "Toy Box". Or when "America" used the same drum pattern as "Baby I'm A Star". Or when "Gamillah" was an instrumental of "The Holy River".
And now you wanna jump on it because it might slightly resemble an earlier demo of "Guitar"? Pffft, bitches please.
The song is a fun song. It's not meant to stop a war. It's just meant to be a damn pop song, and it really good song. It reminds me more of "Cream" and that very straight forward beat with a catchy chorus.
, the version I have in my possession is 4:16, whereas the other version is 3:32. I wonder where that came from?
I don't see people bashing this song, nor complaining that it sounds like something else.
I DO WONDER what your 4:16 version sounds like, after the 3:32 mark!

Is that actually supposed to be a threat? Am I supposed to be genuinely afraid of this?
No it's a reminder that has to be put in place bacause numpties don't follow forum rules. It's there to protect the org from princes lawyers. If you want to test whether luv4u means it, you know what to do
The song is okay for what it is - a free give-away. If he were to include it on any album or charge for it - no thank you.
Still, I'd rather have this as a summer song, and it's a pop song too:
WTF was THAT?! The lead singer in jean shorts assaulting our eyes by thrusting his moose knuckles at the camera, and then writhing his pre-teen body on a picnic cloth? Jack Skellington playing bongos in a beret and a striped mini-dress over jeans? Random bandmembers french kissing weeping willow branches? Gondola rides...just because? I'm confused. And not in the same way as I was when I first saw Nick Rhodes pouting at me in The Reflex video.
Oh...and the song reminds me of Janet Jackson's "Just A Little While." I see the "Shake" and "Cream" comparisons as well. I also agree with Giovanni's assessment that the vocals could use a little charisma. He sounds kinda bored. Maybe he was going for "cool" approach, but he sounds a little disinterested.
After a few listens, I like it. Especially the crisp little tom fills. Generally, I prefer smarter Prince music though. When a song is so straight forward like this, it kind of feels like an insult to my intelligence.

Saw the confusion here so I asked Shelby J and this was her answer
Shelby Johnson June 13 at 11:56pm No that is Not me That is Liv Warfield. She has been singing with us for awhile now. Our voices are somewhat similar, but not the same Thank U for the Support & Love. I am Soooo looking forward to performing this Summer. It's gonna be a "Hot Summer" Peace & many Blessings Shelby
Which also seems to confirm the European Tour to the doubters.
Thanks Shelby for taking the time to answer my query.

And with that slip of the tongue, Prince shows Shelby the door.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

And then proceeds to write a song about it. Purple Door - coming to a local radio station near you... soon...

Greasy hair?! Well I never! Greasy palms? Sometimes. But not greasy hair.

A lot of radio Stations (Europe 1/RTL/le Mouv...) here in France yesterday & this morning are playing the new song "Hot summer" , the trax is presesented as the new single from the New Album from Prince due for release this September.....i don't know if this info is official drived by Prince's team or just speculations around the rumours on the net??
This won't help ticket sales, and it certainly won't stoke excitement for the new album.

Oh man, if Cause & Effect and Hot Summer are two songs on the same album that will have to qualify it already as a candidate for biggest stink bomb of 2010.
