Ticket Prices
gambled too high?

From news.de editor Konrad Rüdiger

Organizers in a dilemma: prices for concerts are higher than ever, offering huge addition. Whether the live madness now comes the live-depression, is still unclear. What is clear is that the end of the price spiral in sight.

Little man in the price quite large: Prince. Text Little man in the price quite large: Prince. Photo: AP

Once standing in the interior: € 153.85. Thus reads the bill for today's concert by Prince, in between TAFKAP, formerly Prince. It is the first concert in Germany of only 1.55 meters little big superstars. (lol, 1 €uro per centimetre)
But so much money was probably too much money.
For the gig in the Berlin forest stage (Waldbühne, damnit) is not nearly sold out. "15 000 tickets sold" was the last message from the organizers just hours before the start of the concert.

The concert highlights a dilemma in the industry:
Even supposedly atractive power artists do not guarantee more arenas.
In the case of Prince 22,000 fans (would have) were fitted in the open air arena. The prices for live concerts are now so high that the demand partly decreases rapidly. So the organizers of the Prince concert in their distress were forced to accept a fourth, with 61.85 € introduce price relatively cheap price. eek

"Rare" a fatal mistake

showed early as the end of last year, Michael Russ from Stuttgart by the Association of German concert Directorates skeptical, given the high prices:
"We have exhausted the limit. It is no longer "about it, he said at the time the news agency AP.
An example: the price of a ticket for the "Boss" Bruce Springsteen with the E Street Band in 2000 were around 80.- DM marks - in the past year the general admission ticket in Frankfurt was € 84. prices just doubled.

This development was not even for industry experts predict. "I have some say in the 1990's, when the Stones after a long pause came the first time back to Germany, that a ticket price will remain at that time $ 100 for rock concerts is an absolute exception," Jens Michow, president of the Federation of event industry says to news . de. "I was wrong seldom fatal."

The business has changed radically in recent years.
"At that time we did concerts to promote CDs," says Michow, "today you can download recordings from artists already quite legally for free on the net - because they are published to promote concerts.
The concert revenue has long since become a major revenue of the artist. "

Trend to concerts in the former Eastern bloc

<Ausverkauft> Sold Out It will continue to be called like that for some top stars .
"We do, however, also concerts by artists such as Lady Gaga, who had to look into Hamburg on her lift into empty ranks, which were tarped off in part already, so it looked not quite so embarrassing", eek eek lol lol says trade association chief Michow.
"In fact, only the fans can influence the price situation by <with proverbial match the Füßen>.(Vote with their feet)"
This would ensure that the most popular artists' only play one concert in Germany and the rest in <Ostblock> . occur "over there the event costs much lower and there are thought to be enough people who paid such prices without further ado.

Sentimental return to the forest stage

It is rare that the artist is already on the stage when all viewers still are not there. eek But those who reinströmten later ran directly into a mega-party lol . Prince in the forest stage - a majestic great show! razz

Germany at the only concert he performs in white, is wrinkle-free with 52nd Music-Stars from Sasha to Peter Kraus, Alexandra Maria Lara and actresses such as Sonja Kirchberger find one themselves. eek lol

Prince starts with "Let's Go Crazy", brings a soft red light version of "Little Red Corvette," can sing his companion Sheila E.. razz razz razz razz

18 years ago, Prince was most recently in the forest stage - and he knows this time 17 500 fans (not quite sold out) inspire. The sing, cheer, dance. Languishing in the heartbreaking "Nothing Compares 2 U" with him.

At the latest when he says "My name is Prince, Berlin is my home" lol are all in love with the little pop-king altogether. Before the encores, he throws his guitar into the audience, the catcher brings them back. At the end is in "Purple Rain" all bathed in pink light and 'Kiss kiss all really like him.

Prince groans of exhaustion: "Berlin, I can not." 22.30 clock is finished, the super-concert. biggrin A wormwood drop: the mega-hit "When Doves Cry", he has not played. For this he is really what is behind the ears ... (Kei, ms)

Do you have Prince yesterday photographed? If so, send your snapshot by e-mail to the 1414@bild.de or MMS to 1414 (29 cents, plus operator charges). If your recording in print nationwide PICTURE, there are 500 € reader-reporter fee! it in your image Creates a regional edition (eg IMAGE Berlin) you get 100 €.

Wrong! I've been there, and the show was great! Excellent versions of "Delirious" (Prince with piano solo) and "Peach", wonderful versions of "Crimson and Clover" and "Old school company" (very funky!).

Maybe he feels the lyrics more .....sweet.... cool

Oh look, you had to make up a LIE to prove a point.

I said that the AVERAGE AGE of the songs played in recent shows was 25+ years.

Oh, and 3 new fairly recently released songs out of 27 is patehtic. Nothing from his new album. Now compare to 1987, when the SOTT show consisted of 80% new songs.

Looks like it was 4 new songs, but who's counting.... lol

If you was an artist that had not played a venue for 18 years ... I'd think your setlist would be like this...but hay who's the artist around here.... you or Prince... lol

What's the lie, I've just said that it blows out the theoy ! and it does.... lol

Fair enough. The show still was great! If you have as much fire in yourself left at the age of 52 as the little man from Minneapolis had that night, you can be really thankful.

Btw, Hot Summer, which is not exactly a great track imo, worked really well when being played live (to my surprise). The crowd was really feeling the song, although most people probably haven't heard it before.
