Right now, I'm picturing this as the opening credits song for a teenage summer love story movie.
This song is playing over a montage of the last day of school as the kids are all dispersing from school.

Its a masterpiece It sounds summery, fun, carefree & warm. A gr8 B-day gift from the Birthday boy will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

It's certainly an improvement over Purple and Gold.

This sounds like a rejected advert for a new flavor of Sunkist.
I'm not sure what more people would need to realize that the well is dry with this guy. After Cause and Effect, this banal tripe and the football song, it's evident Prince has nothing left in the tank. He can't even write pop-fluff anymore.
[Edited 6/7/10 17:11pm] No hard feelings.

It is alright. Kinda reminds me of The Morning After and Vavoom or something.
Nothing special. Not bad. Not great. It's coo. His voice sounds kind of bored or too easy going. Not alot of feeling.
I would have danced to this at the Aloft hotel without a problem. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Christ on a bike!!!! what a fuckin load of shit. I love him live but now he's bringing out bad jingles.
rip Prince
Hello, darkness, my old friend Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

at those lyrics.
Let's see, I wanna write a song about summer, it's usually pretty warm for those three months, hmmm, hmm, what could I title this... No hard feelings.

Hmm it's ok I guess... although it seems he's falling into that bad habit of killing off the hook by repeating it over & over & over again!

Omg wtf what was that? Is it sounds like some left over track from Musicology. what shite
Prince needs to get up to date, get into some dance style or something coz that sounds like a cold summer
Thanks Muirdo for helping me FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

I'm a huge, life-long fan, and this song is horrible. I hope that this does not reflect his current musical direction.
I mean, it is completely irrelevant drivel. IMHO.

I like it alright. I like the stripped back feel. But like "Cause & Effect" I'm not sure the multi-layered vocals work in a pop rock song.
I think it could use a little more work with some more energy put into the vocal and a few layers of vocals stripped away. Reminds me of the "Guitar" demo. a lot. but it's better than that.

Exactly, I mean you figured it out around '94 or '95 right?
Makes perfect sense that you are still here 15 years later. If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

Sounds unfinished. But it's got potential. "Futuristical?!" Call it "Hot Summer Night" and make it better and it'd be aight. It's not going to threatne Katy Perry for this year's summer song.

Huh. And I read it twice before I posted, too. Well, shoot. I stand corrected.

Where have you been for the past decade? This is the expected destination of his gradual downward spiral: complete creative irrelevance.
It looks like this radio station plays a decent selection of music, it's a pity this is the tripe kids will be hearing from Prince. They must all be wondering how this guy achieved legend status and isn't working in jingles for a local advert company.
No hard feelings. | |

Oh dear. It's awful. Cheap and tacky instrumentation, throw-away lyrics and a completely uninspired hook. Like others have said, it sounds like a bad jingle. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

I still think the song is super weak, though.

First though that came to mind once the vocals started was Wendy and Lisa.
He knows he wants them back! Whoever is singing the female vox on this is just a fill in!
Come on, P. Swallow that pride and do the do!!
As for those smackers out there who look at the girls as blah...there's enough of us Wendy and Lisa soldiers to stand up! She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Well he seems happier anyway, that's what's important! Who cares if the lithium, Adderall JW combo have had an effect on his creativity.

Was this a station in Minneapolis?
I never looked to see who debuted it. She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

I do still like hearing new music from him. Of course when I saw the news posted while I was at work, I thought, "cool" ... not the usual freak-out-I-gotta-get-home feeling, considering some of the stuff he's debuted online in the past year. In fact, when I got home, I forgot all about it and took a nap first.
But if this and "Cause & Effect" are indicative of what his new album sounds like, then I think he's mining a particular seam for sure. Would have to hear it all together to make a judgement, but the last two songs are good, I think, but could be great with a little more work and thought. The basics are there, but I think they need a re-think as to the approach, possibly.
