Prince on a bicycle?

A photo that preposterous would have been priceless.

A Chanhassen source, who has been watching the activity around Paisley Park (where the property taxes are finally current), reported a startling sight Thursday afternoon.

"Here I am driving [by Paisley]," said the tipster I'm calling Super Sevens. "There's a guy riding his bike on the right side of the road, and I'm thinking, 'Who is this guy?' I can see he kind of has black hair in the back and purple long sleeves. I'm thinking, 'Who is this person?' I drive by and IT'S PRINCE, riding his bike. I can't believe it," Super Sevens told me.

What kind of bike does Prince have?

"I don't know, but I'm doing a circle to go back," he told me in his real-time report.

By the time he returned, Prince was within the confines of Paisley Park, where both gates were open. I know that because a few hours earlier I had been out there shooting video, seeing if the Dumpsters were back to normal or still overflowing the way they were when I last had been there.

"I should have just stopped and said 'Hi' to him," mused Super.

Noooo, Super, you should have taken a picture.

"I don't know why I didn't take a picture," Super said, yelling at himself. "I had the [camera]. That was the perfect opportunity."

Are you sure it was Prince? "I know what he looks like," Super said. "I have friends who've worked for him. IT WAS PRINCE."

Before seeing Prince's face, Super could tell that this wasn't your "typical person riding a bike."

The showy shirt with the "silky, artistic, flowing" purple long sleeves and contrasting gray body. And the pants? They weren't jeans, or buttless, or attire you might find at nearby Bokoo Bikes.

It looks as though Prince is either staying at his Paisley apartment suite or he has rented a nearby residence.

"I don't know if he rode around the block or just went down the block and came back to Paisley Park," said Super, who noticed one item not worn: A helmet.

Bad Symbolina! With no bike lane on that road, "He was very tight, very close to the curb, taking it very gingerly, slow."

So he wasn't acting like he owned the road, which is smart because cyclists don't want to be taken out by vehicles.

The first time I saw prince on a bike was on a photo in the official photo calendar from 1999. There is a barking dog in the background.

I wonder who could pop a longer wheelie - me, or Prince? I've have to warn him, I can hold it for 10 feet!

Maybe he sold all his sweet rides to pay his property taxes, so now he's biking it.
