Did Sleep Around Get Airplay?

I remember when I bought Emancipation 4 or 5 years ago that Sleep Around was a track that instantly stuck to me. It sounded...familiar. I felt the same when I first heard Letitgo after buying Come. Songs that, when you're a kid, you hear all the time but don't realize it, and when you're older and you hear them they sound so, again, familiar.

So is there a reason why Sleep Around sounded so good, catchy, familiar on the first listen? Beyond being a pretty sweet dance track? Did it get airplay or publicity beyond the Oprah appearance?

AKA Would I have heard this on the radio back in 96 as a kid?

Sleep Around was never released as a single, so it is very doubtful that it ever got played on the radio.

Scroll down for singles released.

Thanks for the info. I was aware that it wasn't a single, but there are more than a few Prince songs that got heavy airplay without being singles. Any chance Sleep Around could be one of them?

I heard it once in the UK.

Was pretty surprised when I heard it.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

It was played here in Detroit at least once that I know of back in 1996. I was in 9th grade and the radio station 105.9 were doing a Prince special about the Emancipation cd. I remember they played "Sleep Around" and "the Human Body"

It was popular due to the fact he performed it on Oprah and that he often played it at the live shows at that time. He really seemed to enjoy the track and looked very enthused when he played it live.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Cool music but pathetic message - do everything your girl wants or else. I wonder how Tiger Woods wife or Sandra Bullock would react if they were told "do it like he likes it so your man won't wanna sleep around. Give him what he wants..."
That's right, now bring it feminists.
