Serious answers, please ... (speculation is welcome) I'd tell him go go back to being "true" to his own music genius. Seems that this was the case in the beginning of his career, and then at some point it appeared that he was trying to make some sort of "statement". It also appeared that he became entrapped in this cycle of sexual X-Rated lyrics which in my opinion limited his audience to those willing to entertain and listen to that stuff. I think he knows music period. He should just play his guitar, forget about any formal "group", and sing what comes true to him. Some of the cuts that Prince did, I really think was out of anger, or to spite Warner Bros. I think or at least hope that he's grown beyond this. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

He's doing just fine without little ole me...
But, I would suggest that he make an UNDENIABLE JAM...something sexy, but not nasty, you know, i got enough problems... He has a combination of problems that don't add up to this happening though: 1. His ego won't let him work with anyone else where their opinion really counts. 2. He refuses to pay to play.... 3. His age - This can be overcome (Santana, Cher etc), but...see 1 & 2 4. His lack of motivation - He has the skills to be innovative and experimental, but lately he's settled for comfortable material. Cookie cutter songs aren't gonna cut it unless.....see 1 & 2 (BTW, I think his latest songs are great, but Prince stopped pushing the envelope) Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I agree Prince would certainly gain new fans, and give the existing ones some really good payback for their longtime support if he did a reality TV show. However I have a bigger chance at winning the lottery than Prince agreeing to let cameras into his Purple life. There is this film maker named Kevin Smith (I believe he was the overweight guy that Southwest Airlines tried to make pay 2 fares), anyway Kevin reported that Prince called for him to make a documentary of him, you gotta google or youtube his discussion on the ostacles / barriers that Prince put in place for him and in the end after all that work, the film will probably never see the light of day. Again, Prince approached him about the documentary, and then ended up thrwarting his effort. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Radio Stations....major money is dropped to play those songs. It's not the happy days of the America's top 40. Record companies pay to play those songs on the air. New York Radio Disc Jockey Frankie Crocker went to jail for a few years because of this. I won't be naive and say that this does not still go on, but I'm sure that folks now know the risks of this. In that case he shouldn't "Pay to Play". Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Serious answers, please ... (speculation is welcome) It seems that he's as much in the charts and into the public eye as he wants to, or as he should (considering that he doesn't try to sell singles anymore, but full albums). I'd actually rather advice him to give up being mainstream 4 a while and release more experimental stuff such as "Kamasutra", "The War" or "N.E.W.S." because that's where he could still explore new grounds (he's covered the whole funk/hip-hop/pop/rock spectrum more than enough by now). With those reported "hip" problems that Prince has, whatever he does, he should go easy. Seems like from the 2 reports that were posted on this site that he likes to just basically observe and offer a guitar lick here and there when appropriate. I think all good things must come to an end. I was not paricularly excited by any of Prince's recent stuff. What he should never do again is make another "rally song" because the one for the Minnesota Vikings sucked! Hey even Stevie Wonder is just "chillin" and laying low these days. Now that's a musical genius for you! Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Stevie Wonder is definitely not laying low lol, 2007 he did an American tour (A Wonder Summer's Night), 2008 he did the European leg, 2009 I guess he took a summer off but he also performed at Michael's memorial. 2010; he's back in the UK again! Pretty great for a 60 year old. http://www.steviewonder.o.../tours.htm [Edited 5/27/10 6:58am]

TrevorAyer said:[quote]prince music has always been pretty good
his lyrics took a sharp turn for the worse I absolutely agree. The lyrics suck and sound grade-schoolish. But who knows when he wrote those lyrics. To be honest, if Prince initially came out with the material that he was performing in the mid to late 90's onward, I would never have been a fan. I would have probably just acknowledged him as a good guitar player, and that's it. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Im not sure, but as long as whatever advice orgers have on the matter, he would do good to do the complete opposite.
We all love Prince for our own reasons and that's cool, but this bunch is the last group of individuals he or anyone else should take career advice from. lol [Edited 5/27/10 18:39pm]

I didn't think so either but it seems like he's doing like what he did now like he did when he put out Purple Rain and then followed it up with A.T.W.I.A.D. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
