No photos of the gates or anything? come on!

You guys are so funny. I obviously knew it was private property (there is a sign - there is a gate - though I hoped he left if open just for me!)

Any picture I would have taken would have been too far away to see anyway (I was under a tree in the shade to the left of the gate) and I also think tacky and a little creepy.

Plus I was shaking with excitement that he was actually there!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your very cool moment!!

I'd have felt and reacted the same way!! (Though I probably would have taken pictures of the gate & building. giggle )

Even more cool is your riding in the Red Ribbon Ride!! That's really wonderful!

cool story. I would have giving him an "oh a waaa" at least!

or you could have 'crashed your bike' and pretended to be hurt. It might have won you a trip in to PP.

As far as it being private property. I will assume the laws are pretty much the same all over. As long as there are no signs and the gate is open or there is no gate and you are not there to break the law then it is almost imposable to be charged with trespassing. Pulling into a parking lot (like I did yesterday and was approached by a security guard, I was lost and was checking a map, he gave me directions how to get on the freeway ) for a few moments is not a crime. The wost they can do is ask you to leave. (unless you refuse of course)

Telling you it is private property is a very nice way of saying "do not stay much longer." Being rude is a good way to be asked directly to leave.

Wal Mart is a private property and you can go there as long as they want you to be there. Same with

"Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

Nice and refreshing story. I have not seen very many pictures of Paisley Park. Sometimes it's just little stuff like that ...that makes fans get butterflies. I remember I felt like that when I used to see Run Dmc in the community.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Please erase the expectation you have about me going to the USA, ever.

At present there's plenty of reasons not to go there.

And yes, the USA is not alone.

Well, if you really just want pictures of the gates and Paisley Park, I see no reason why I can't get them next time I go for a long ride. If I get busted for that, I can just act like an ignorant tourist fan. I feel like that's not really an imposition. Thank you to "nothingbutjoy!" I am really excited to ride the Red Ribbon Ride again, which will really help those in the Twin Cities who are living with AIDs/HIV.

And the people who ride an crew are all angels!

I see this open double decker bus ride up to Paisley Park during the tourist season so people can take pictures as they like, not being hindred by a fence or whatever...

Cool little thing to happen while ur out minding ur own day.

U did the right thing not to a take photos, nobody likes there pic being taken by stranger especially if its at there own home and especially when u shouldn't be on the property in the first place, it such an invasion of privacy. And we all know what PP looks like already!

Glad u got to see him and he was looking well.

So while all this was going on, you clearly had your cell phone with internet access because you were posting to Facebook. You just couldn't be bothered to even TRY to snap the photo of a lifetime...for the rest of US...yet you gleefully...just had to come and tell us about it? eek

Prince fans...ONE and ALL! disbelief

Just like Prince...himself! WE ALL...EACH AND EVERY SINGLE FUCKING...ONE OF US...are truly AND indeed...some selfish ass motherfuckers!!! disbelief

ohgoon

I wouldnt have taken a photo either..... lol

I don't see why the hell not? In the time it took to post what was happening to Facebook, the OP could have just as easily, if not even quicker, just taken a picture and posted what happened later.

If either had been a problem or a concern, Prince would not have sent a woman to throw the OP out and whomever he sent, would have taken the OP's phone.

Once in a lifetime opportunities are meant to be captured, that's all I'm saying. shrug

At 12:00 or something I get a call, the rest of my group had just seen Prince (checked his passport) and exchanged a few words!! (T' was around his One Nite Alone tour) And they all knew I was a huge fan!! %$#! Never bothered calling me up on time so I could speed up...

Thanks, heidiv, for sharing. I don't blame you for not taking a picture. I wouldn't have either. It would be different if you were in a different situation, like on the street with other people and he's walking out of a building or something. But you were all alone in his parking lot and he happened to open the door. You did fine. Very nice memory and story for you to have.

I don't know what is with the Org lately. I know people have always bitched about things, but lately, it seems like no thread can get posted without people complaining all over it! It's turning into a hugely negative place.

That's probably because some people crave attention and think negativity grabs attention. Well, because negativity does garner attention. But for the most part I think most negative comments come from a selfish perspective (Example: You didn't handle it the way I think you should have, therefore, I have the right to complain. Complain no-perhaps discuss your concerns-yes. It's just 2 ways of approaching an issue. One way comes with respect for yourself and the other, the other way no respect for yourself and the other.).

That being said Comedy does not apply in the same manner.

I'm training for the Red Ribbon Ride, a 300 mile bicycle ride coming in July that benefits AIDs/HIV organization in the Twin Cities. I gotta ride a lot to get ready, right?

And I'm a Prince fan since about 1980, which is before I was even born (not).

So I decide to go on a training ride today for about 45 miles. Chanhassen and back sounds about right from Minneapolis.

I bike to Chanhassen and Paisley Park, go in the park to take a break in the shade. Text my husband jokingly, "no sign of Prince yet."

A woman enters the parking lot in a SUV and rolls down the window and asks me, "May I help you?"

I say, "I'm just on a ride taking a break for a couple minutes."

She pulls into the parking lot by the door on the south side.

Who opens the door to Paisley Park but none other than his Royal Badness. I can hardly believe what I'm seeing.

He greets the woman with a hug and another woman with a hug and props the door open so they can carry some stuff inside.

I'm on Facebook on my iPhone joking about being at the park while this all happens.

I watch him for a few minutes - turquoise shirt, white caftan type thing, looking so cool and perfect, like he always looks.

The woman points me out to him. I can tell he's contemplating whether to offer me a cool drink of water or kick me off his property.

I frantically type into Facebook, "OMG! He's looking right at me. I think they're gonna kick me out."

The woman walks toward me and waves goodbye, saying, "This is private property."

I say, "ok, thanks!" but on my biking shoes and ride out of there, wishing I had the guts to ride over to Prince and wish him an early happy birthday.

So now I can say Prince really looked right at me, and maybe he'll even find out my name for when he files a restraining order. Not necessary though!!!

Thought some of you might like to read this.

Have a great weekend of Prince in Minneapolis~

so cool!!! very exciting

I'm pretty sure there is a sign On the less flashy side stating that it's private property but I'm not a stalker or anything so I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure..a few years ago there was one there with plants starting to grow over it.

Now that I read the article in the paper about him riding a bike, I'm really surprised he didn't invite me in for a glass of lemonade or at least want to come check out my ride. Especially since it was such a "hot summer" day too.

Oh, well. At least I got to see him. That makes my day any day - he's brought so much fun and joy into my life with his music all these years.

One late late late night (early morning) in Philadelphia, Prince and I locked eyes on a deserted street. I became dumbstruck. He waited a few seconds, perhaps expecting me to speak. I could not. He stepped into his tour van before a few eager fans appeared from the nightclub behind us.

As the van began to pull away, a single tear streamed down my face (like that old Indian that wasn't really an Indian who cried about pollution in that commercial from the 70s). The passenger window of the van rolled down and Cat yelled, "THAT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY, HEIFER."

Cool that you say him unexpectedly! The first time I visited Minneapolis I had to go find Paisley Park. As soon as I got to Chanhassen I stopped at a gas station to as where paisley was, the clerkk told me you can't miss it keep going straight out of the city limits its a white building on the left hand side with a purple triangluar roof.Pretty good description I found it.I was able to drive up in the parking lot because the gates where open, maybe 1 or 2 cars there.I jumped out and me and one of my friends took some pictures in front of Paisley.Got back in the car pretty fast.I had heard his house was a mile away from Paisley so that was my next quest. It wasn't hard to find. The big black fence gave it away and the sign on the fence posting Private Property camera surveillance. The house set way back, I was only able to see a purple roof.I drove as far down as the fence went and was like wow.Prince has a windmill on the back on his property also a radio tower.I got bold enough and drove up to the private driveway trying to act like I was lost.A fine Mexican guy walked out and said th,"this is private property and I have to ask you to leave. Then I was like Prince lives hear don't he?I'm not stupid. Then the guy started talking to me and my friends like asking us where we were from and all.We talked to him maybe 10 minutes, then he had a call that went off in the little security booth and then he was alillte more insistent that we had to leave because P would be arriving soon.We left and parked down alittle ways down on the other side of the street but never saw P.The security guard probrably warned the driver that a couple of fans were hanging around.Darn!!Oh to be so close. But then 2 yrs later I got to go to a Celebration 2002 at Paisley saw P plenty walking around with his bodyguards though.

Hey, I know it was a cool thing to run into one of your musical inspirations esp. on a bike! Thumbs up for not being a bum and taking photos where they weren't wanted! It was a coincidental accident that you ran into the situation! You don't need photos for that! It is in your memories--if it means something to you! Forget this F@#$up society where every brush with anyone mean a photo opportunity and money! razz mad

It was PARTIALLY a coincidental accident you ran into him. You did ride your bike specifically to his property, afterall.

In any case, what you should have done, was right when the lady told you to leave, start peddling away and then fall... HARD... make it look like an accident, but really hurt yourself... so much that she has to bring you into the Park for some first aid. That would greatly increase your chances that Prince would come over to you and start preaching some religion. Hey, it would totally be worth it!
