2. So? Already debunked.

3. I don't need to be a mindreader, I just need to look at the facts: has Prince played his latest music live in concert? NOPE. Hence: can't be arsed to promote it. Why? You do the math.

4. No he isn't. Prince left the building in early 1996.

5. But you do know what he's thinking, I guess?

No.4 is a very funny point, that means you been hanging around slagging him off since 1996, don't you like other artist, can't you join another fan's website, madonna etc......why u still hanging around here..lol

Really should only post on pre-1996 threads lol

Believe me, many of us have been asking this question since 1996! hammer

yeahthat

There's a definite cycle on the ORG.

Rumor -> Adoration -> Speculation -> Confirmation -> Denial -> Negativity -> Acceptance

As constant as the tides.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

A lot of talk here about racial issues. Going out on a limb here but is not "Ebony" magazine by it's very nature racially intolerant? There would be hysteria if publishers brought out a White version called "Ivory"?

?

Just to be clear, I'm saying all the racial stuff dosent mean shit really, we should just be interested in what he has to say for himself. I would personally love some adult reflection from him on his career over the last few years not just some jazz about a new amazing dream project. But I guess we all know that's not gonna happen?

lol Lawd have mercy, that is so ridiculous. The magazine highlights lifestyles of black celebrities, professionals and everyday African-Americans In its early days of circulations, the African-American population was its main target, obviously because at the beginning of its circulation, there weren't many other magazines that centered or gave information regarding lifestyles and other interests about the black community. It was a source of information where blacks could connect/communicate and be informed of the successes, lifestyles, politics, education, health issues, and achievements and contributions made by Blacks within American society and outside of it. There's no crime in that or the name of the mag. Nothing racist or racial about the name as well. Honestly, some folks find the silliest things to pinpoint. lol

How about just looking forward to reading about the Prince interview and enjoying it. biggrin

1. Read the article when it comes out before criticizing it.
2. Ebony is a LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE.
3.You don't know what Prince is thinking to be claiming what is so called bad or what he can't be arsed to. You are not a mind reader. Sorry.
3. There have been many articles in the U.S that have been critcal of Prince music.
4. People have been criticizing Prince's music for years now. Guess What Prince is still Prince .
5.News Flash: You do not know what Prince is thinking or feeling. If you claim you do not care for an artist what do care if their work is promoted or not.
You also claim his recent music is so called bad but you want to take issue with the promoting of it.

lol People just like to criticize for the sake of it.
Very shameful. neutral

ha! Newsflash, everyone knows what prince is thinking.

Whoa! I'm having this strange dream that I'm back at school with my whole class arguing over who's got the biggest dad!

Everyone... it's a magazine article...

Wait and see what Prince has to say in the article before you get on your old conjecture ponies. Again.

OK... I'm expecting more of the same old "I was a slave, now I'm a slave to Jehovah, praise him for Larry Graham"-kind of musicless information, but we'll see...

Anyone else noticed that Prince always "bigs up" Larry, but I've never once heard (and this includes quite a few B-legs confused ) Larry say how great Prince is... Bizarre, but a lot of Prince folks wouldn't even recognise Larry's bad moustache without Prince's backing... Nothing to do with the magazine article, but another "discussion" point... lol

Never for a second said there was anything wrong with a magazine that only caters for a certain racial group. But thats what it does, it separates the reading public into 2 (or more) racial groups.

Lets just say it as it is.

How many black folk would have a problem with "Ivory" magazine which caters exclusively for white folk. (ie excludes Black subject matter).

The answer: a lot.

Just saying. And regarding just looking forward to hearing what P has to say? Read the end of my post.

None!

Go to the nearest newspaper stand and you'll see a HEAP of "Ivory" themed magazines that don't give a crawling shit about black people UNLESS they got called on it once in a while biggrin Vanity Fair is the most recent example.

Let people embrace their cultures and go embrace your own, nobody will take offence to that but the ones who were born yesterday.

Your post ignores racial history in America -- if you're aware of it -- in the first paragraph of your post, while invoking black (over)sensitivity because of that very same racial history in the second paragraph. When deliberately done, it's the same foolishness that fuels conservative talk radio's marginalization of black people every day. When accidentally done, it's more akin to ignorance shouting in the public square. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Let's be clear -- nothing prevents white consumers from choosing to buy Ebony magazine and reading to their hearts' content. But, the racial history in America that I speak of was built on exploiting blacks' labor while limiting (or banning by law) their choices and rights as consumers. Progress has been made in America, undeniably. But financial and social parity are still closer to hope than reality.

As for the interview, the promo text suggests Ebony will fawn over Prince instead of approaching him journalistically. More of the same from a once-great magazine. disbelief
