QUESTION FOR THE MODERATE PRINCE FANS...

As a moderate prince fan you are neither a die hard fan nor a critic of Prince's musical catalog, image, and on-stage/on-film performances. So what would it take for you to become a die hard fan? What's missing from the guy to make you cross over into fam territory?

On the flip side, what could he do to make you lose what interest you currently have?

^ you suggest Prince is not a free thinker and that is what keeps you from being a fam? Or is it that he is too free thinking and that is what would make you lose any admiration you have left for him?

eye was a fam, but now after these weak years eye guess eye'm "just" a moderate fan with alot of material by the guy these days.
My guess would be the lack of concept-album lately. Lotusflow3r was alright, so was mplsound, but nothing lately has given me as much emotionally as 4 example prince. Fantastic album!
LoveSexy was extremly good to, eye also liked Gold Experience alot. To name a few. That's my guess.. He's become to commersial eye think.
A example: when SexyMF first hit the radio here in sweden eye couldn't work for the 4 minutes it lasted. eye enjoyed every millisecond of it!
After that My name is Prince hit the stores, and eye was sold.. Same thing with LoveSexy and Gold experience (different music though wink ). Hmm, or maybe it's me who asks to much of him? Or eye've evolved in an other direction..

eye would run to see an concert though.
Hey! There's another thing, he hasn't payed sweden a lot of attention for the last ten or so years. Grrrr... Hehe...

Stuff just pourin out..

I'd consider myself a moderate fan. I think I would be more of a fan if it seemed like he gave two hoots in hell about his fans. I don't say this to start a whole new discussion on it (lord knows we've got plenty o' those), just my opinion.

Just a word to the wise, it is quite difficult to believe someone is not a fam when Princebonics is a part of their life.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

If Prince put tinkle in my spine, I'd be pissed as hell.

No pun intended.

I was a preacher of Prince back in my youth. And I converted a WHOLE lot of people. I think to be a true believer again he just needs to release something worth talking about.

Had I been born earlier and heard all his 80s greatness at the time I would surely have been a huge fan, whether that would've changed how I feel today I think not because only the Love Symbol, Old Friends4Sale and One Nite Alone albums have satisfied me like those from his halcyon era do.....still there're great songs on most of his albums.

There's nothing he could really do to make me lose interest at this stage, he's too good a musician.

I don't think I could ever become a die-hard fan. It's not in my blood or life philosophy to go to such extremes in favour of another. People like Nelson Mandela influence me, not the entertainment industry. But two things would make him win more points from me.

1. Stop asking what his name is. I (and others) know his name so I don't like the question and also feel it's inciting fanatacism. He can say his name is Prince, that's fine but stop asking.

2. If he could bring me from the spiritual realm to the physical plain like from 2.00m to 2.45mins in this song. No alchohol or drugs needed. Music is the drug. From ballet to 165bpm PURE dance power. From classical strings and piano to intoxicating beat. I like to dance this fast & have the breaks in between for the breather razz http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

I haven't encountered a whole lot of fams but the few I've come to know seem to be driven by his live performances and that makes sense. I'm a moderate for personal reasons but it does seem to me those that desire more from P (fams turned moderate) do so out of nostalgia for his nasty days e.g. sexually charged lyrics, performances and outfits. Others (moderates on the brink of bailing) seem to have outgrown him. There is still a respect for his talent and musicianship but following the man through his relationship woes and political/religious conversion have left a bad taste in their mouths. Or something like that.

Sigh! Should we maybe change the topic to "Is Gemeni really a moderate fan as he claims" or could we get back to the "Question for the moderate fans"?

Well stated!! I did not initially respond to this thread as I felt I was more than a moderate fan, having followed him for better than 25 years now but I do find myself gravitating almost exclusively to live stuff, either on DVD or CD. I always respected him getting away from the "nasty" stuff as he got older and I am OK with him becoming more spiritual but I grow tired of all the over the top preaching on stage and mostly the fact that he preaches a lot of Christian messages but cannot even treat people anywhere near Christ like. The most recent performance at the Time awards where he would not even sit at the table he was given and then played an after show type gig with his back to the audience was inexcusable. If he wanted to jam in private, no problem, GO TO A F-ing studio. Don't perform in front of a live audience. All of this is shadowed with music that has not really held my attention for and real length of time. I know that I have struggled in recent years with all of this as this has been a part of my life and it sems to be dissapearing. I guess it just goes with getting older.

dear Girl, AKNOWLEGMENT has a great IMPORTANCE as a FAN and there is no free thinker,
the knowledge in higher DIMENSIONS is absolute not free,
ILLUSIONS and FANTASY are free but KNOWLEDGE and THOUGHTS not.
Thinking is created by feeling.
NIRVANA is pure KNOWLEDGE and there you don,t need to think,
there is only KNOWLEDGE.
