The Gold Experience - One Dollah!

So I'm out garage sale shopping today for fun.

Some guy who was obviously a DJ was selling some stuff (including some long box CDs still in the shrink wrap). I picked up a funky disco light for $8. But in the $1 CD box was a promo stamped copy of The Gold Experience. I immediately dug deeper, but found nothing else I couldn't live without.

My copy of TGE is a bit worn (ie: scratched), so it's nice to have a cleaner CD.

I also bought an old (circa) 1992 stereo with a turn table, and dual cassette on it, plus a separate 5-disk CD changer component - all for $10. It was just such a scream to see all this stuff, that I had to get it. It works great. I have TGE, and all 4 Crystal Ball CDs in the player shuffling. I might put this whole thing down in the garage to use while we're sitting outside in the summer, and then bring it upstairs in the winter.

The stereo unit is a JCPenney MCS Series Model 2237. The CD changer is a Sansui CD-390m, for those that want to google it all up. The light I got was very similar to this:

Good job Ernest. I purchased a new turntable a few weeks ago, and trying to find one that met my needs at a reasonable price was a royal pain. confused Things seemed much simpler to me when they had tower systems.

This is an all-in-one type system. It actually used to be in a roll around cart with a glass door on it (I noticed on the user manual).

Radio Shack used to carry stylus needles, but some don't now. I think I can get it on their site though.

I barely consider myself a real record nut,

but garage sales are the best. No filtered record store supplies, usually not overwhelming like a warehouse.

When you find something special at a garage sale, it's a thrill.

Anytime I got to a gargage sale, it's a whole lot of Nsync, Backstreet Boys, etc. I always assume people know better, too.

Usually have to wade thru a few streisand, andy williams and johnny mathis records before you find nice things.

(no disrespect to any of those artists)

I find a lot of that too. My guilty pleasure is Nsync, so I've snapped up their 3 or 4 albums that way over the years. I couldn't care less about BSB, etc.

I mainly dig through LPs if I find them, but the rare good CD I dig out too.
