favorite purple drummers 1.Michael B
2.Sheila E./Prince 3.John Blackwell Now,some may look at this cross-eyed,but I love the fiery technicality and cymbal work of Mike Bland. Sheila is a really cool drummer and plays with power and passion.Prince,I like because he is daring and I love his quirky high hat use and his love of toms.( I think of Tambourine and God(instrumntal). John is an awesome drummer, but the other 3 just stand out more to me.I can't even truly articulte it but that is just the way it be. Morris has played on a couple of tracks and live in minneapolis.he's ok. Bobby Z was always there, but he style is very basic to me. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

Don't like Michael Bland. Sure, he can play, but a lot of that playing was over dramatic, just like all the keys and crap dress sense of that era NPG. Ugh! (shudder)
Give me John Blackwell and then Sheila E. any day of the week.
