Best track Prince wrote and gave to someone else Whats the best track Prince wrote and gave to someone else...
My vote goes to..... Jerk Out. I know there is a version of Prince doing that track from the early 80s but I love Jerk Out. He should have kept that one for one of his album tracks.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"With This Tear" - I'd LOVE to hear Prince's demo of this! It's a GREAT song, that's very underrated and JUST a bit of a shame it's Celine Dion on it. - I can only imagine the demo!
I'd also love to hear the original recordings for the 1st 2 Time albums in Prince demo form.

there are so many. it's impossible to pick just 1 fav.
i still feel that it would be a great idea for him to release an 'alternate' hits set. two or three discs of him doing his own versions of hits and songs he gave to other people. the last few weeks i've been diggin "noon rendezvous" a whole lot again. both the live version he did and the studio version fro sheila's album. such a great, great song. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Have I misunderstood the question...we've already had these I did not read "except the ones he did release later on himself"-part of the original question, it seems. Van Gogh and Shhh were given to other artists FIRST, then he released his version of Van Gogh later on cuz it was rumored he did not like their reworking of the song and reworked Shhh for inclusion on The Gold Experience cuz he just liked it too much himself. Get Wild was played live a lot by Prince, but was never released as a studio outtake with a Prince-only vocal, was it? >>

no. except for that outtake version which sounds like it was recorded from the inside of someone's trouserpocket, through a closed door, there isn't any official prince version of Get Wild. there should have been by now tho what a great opportunity all those websites were to re-release stuff like the entire exodus album with him on all the vocals. tho sonny did a decent job and perhaps prince feels it wouldn't be right to go back and release it with his own vocals now since that would be a bit like saying "this is what is should sound like". and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

A band called Van Gogh. Prince contacted them with this song. They rerecorded it and made something dreadful of it. I actually love Prince's version. >>

Manic Monday-Perfect little pop hit.
Nothing Compares 2 U-Sinead made it haunting(love it). Had P kept the song, it would have been a cross-over R&B and Pop chart topper imo. I Hear Your Voice- I love Patti LaBelle, but after hearing P's version, I felt he should've kept and released this gem. I know the lyrics would've had to have been tweaked, or he could've left them the same, released it, and stirred up more controversy. Time Waits for No One-Mavis did this one proud, so I'm torn about this song. Prince would've done just as well and had something very special. Everybody have a good weekend!

There is the one that has much more instrumentation, has the 'purple rain era' music feel, a bit of electric guitar. I LOVE this one

Love, Thy Will Be Done... The Undertaker. Shhh. Get Wild. Ain't No Place Like U. Sunday In The Park. The Dance Electric. I AGREE A Love Bizarre. It was a semi duet with Sheila E it was a big hit as is G-Spot. sorta agree, especially since it was in the original script for Purple Rain. But better yet Jill Jones should have had her own PR era album and a duet with Prince Mutiny. Naw perfect on the Family album, Prince should have promoted them 777-9311. Perfect with the Time, didn't match Prince's 1999 direction. He was bigger than the gigolo image he vented thru the Time Databank. Chocolate. just should have been release earlier, the Time shouldn't have broken up, maybe it should have been on Ice Cream Castles Mia Bocca. Naw, it was written intently from the perspective of a woman, just like Noon Rendevzous For Love. Neon Telephone. Van Gogh. Train. Bliss. Time Waits 4 No One. 101. Ooh This I Need. Open Book. Love, Thy Will Be Done... The Undertaker. Shhh. Get Wild. Ain't No Place Like U. Sunday In The Park.
